I watched the game on TV and don't recall hearing Mookie's name called at all.
I know he had been hurt but thought he was ready to play last night.
Any of you geniuses know the story here?

He was 4th in snaps for WR. He definitely played. He just didn’t get any targets that I recall and supposedly had a hissy fit after the game about it.
Hopefully he gets over it because he’ll get his chances to make plays.

Drink commented on it. Says he played a lot of snaps, but the ball just didn’t go his way and that happens. Says he needs to work at getting him some touches. Said he doesn’t need to earn more playing time, that he already has. Said there were some plays designed to get him the ball, but it just didn’t happen
I wonder if he was just covered well.

I was thinking about him too. I expected him to get a reverse or some end around play.

At about the 11:30 mark of the video you can see Cooper & Drink walking towards each other in the background. Then it looks like Cooper has a few words for Drink. Hope he gets over getting upset over touches.

Wide receivers were not able to separate from the defenders.
The reason for that is the offense wasn't spread out all over the field. I am wondering why was that? Did Drinkwitz held back the playbook? Maybe saving for the KSU game?

He is quicker than a hiccup

First game and he's complaining about this nonsense? That can become a cancer on the team if it's not stopped immediately.

I don’t mind it. If he’s worked hard and done what he needs to do. Only him and the coaches know that. As long as you don’t air it in the streets. I’d rather have a wide out who wants the ball. Part of being a head coach is managing people.

I'm guessing he wasn't open. Certainly, there had to be SOME plays where he was the primary or secondary target and he couldn't separate.
After all, despite all the hype, he wasn't that dynamic last year.
Maybe this is a Mookie problem.

He was hurt last year. He will be fine as long as he keeps working and doesn’t pout. There will be games this year where he is the star.

I watched a video taken by someone in a private twitter group I belong too. Drink came up from behind MK, wo turned around briefly, then walked off shaking his head mumbling.
Fk that... there is no need to go full DPJ after the first game.
Then there was DJ Jackson's mom (dotsy on twitter) tweeted after the game, having issues that her son was only playing on special teams.
It's a bad look... just one old mans opinion

Okay. I give up.
What the hell is DPJ?

Just an opinion don’t know the real story
Mookie is a Y receiver and not a X receiver. Last night he played a lot of X. Instead of lining up a few yards behind the line he was lining up on the line.
Lovett and Bannister played as the H (slot receiver)
Burden is a X receiver, but last night he mainly played as a Y receiver. Instead of playing on the line he moved around a lot.
The X receiver is usually the strongest receiver. Burden is 5’11” 215 to 220 lbs and Mookie is 5’8” 180 to 185 lbs.
Mookie was probably pissed because he was playing out of position and got checked at the line almost every time and wasn’t able to get open.
X WR Burden and Dove
Y WR Luper and Cooper
H WR Lovett, Bannister, and Miller

Sounds like the start of a pronoun debate

Luper appears to basically be out for the season.

Gotcha.
I try to forget he was ever here.

I agree with the sentiment - but for Mookie’s case I’m finding some sympathy. Man hasn’t really been healthy in years and was definitely amped to get a few touches.
Sadly it didn’t happen, I think it is safe to say that won’t be the case for the whole season though.

I agree. I'm rooting for the kid.
However, at some point he has to prove he was worth all the hype.
If he can't get open against La Tech what are the prospects going forward?
Something has to change and I'm guessing that something is Mookie.
