Florida might be our best chance this year. Unless A&M melts down some, or USCe has an off day.

Missouri catches a break in the fact they are not facing as many power run teams this season. Should match up much better.

Very true. We're still more built to play spread teams.

Correction. Back Channels are steaming. There was a legitimate segment of boosters that wanted Pinkel fired last year.

Always a possibility with A&M, I'm afraid

Gonna be a fun one in CoMo either way, though!

That is actually not good for Mizzou. Mizzou's defense is MUCH better vs the run than the pass. Last year, we held the LoS against almost everyone not named Bama. It was when teams realized they had passing plays that Mizzou's D was in trouble.

Exactly, it was our passing D that failed, not the run D. Although, a lot of that run-defense "success" was because of Sheldon Richardson. Our biggest issue last year was the stunningly anemic offense.

Give us your honest opinion of Johnny Football after this off-season he has had?

I was at the Syracuse game and it was bad.

That anemic offense is what contributed most to the defense being done by halftime. Just on the field way too much.

I think the entire team had all but quit by that game. Then add to it that Richardson had to sit out that game, and I think they just mailed it in for the most part.

Yes it was. It was Syracuse WRs running around with nobody covering them after they already had over 150 yards of receiving. Passing killed MU's D all season.

With Franky as QB, it will be more of the same this year.

We did well at stopping spread running teams. Power running teams, with the north and south approach, were harder on us. Except for Sheldon, we tended to get handled by bigger offensive lines, and the lanes opened right up for them.

Shite, they're RB's were almost every bit the size of our DLine. Back in the 80's, whenever I saw a game, I just couldn't help but notice how small we were. Like we were playing on a 200 yard field while everyone else was playing 100 yards. It seemed Pinkel changed that while in the Big 12 but against a few teams last year, just got that same feeling again. Our RB's looked high school size going up against some of the other teams.

You're right - our RBs are small in the SEC - some of the teams that focus on a power running offense, like Alabama, has really big RBs. Even that ones that aren't tall are build like our linebackers.

I think our RBs will be productive, no question, but I'd like to see us recruit a big RB to round our our group of backs. Losing Chase Abbingdon to juco hurt in a big way.

Notice when all of the analysis is done, to get better, the need is always for big time recruits. In the SEC you play against big time recruits. There are no easy teams.

You're right. And that is my biggest concern about this coaching staff. Pinkel has never been a fantastic recruiter. Yost was the best recruiter, and he's now with Mike Leach. I'm not upset about that, but we didn't replace him with another dynamic recruiter.

Andy Hill is the best recruiter on the staff right now, IMO. And even if there is a change, I'd love to see him stay on.

I'd be happy with 4-8 and not winning a conference game. Shucks, I'm just happy to be in the SEC.
