Wasting is the right word.
Eli deserves credit for getting kids here with big potential that you really pull for on offense and defense.
He has had a couple of superior defenses with those kids. But he can not field an offense that works against a Top 25 defense without a 2,000-yard-level running back with a good line in front of him.
And even then, his offensive staffs can not come up with enough imagination to develop a game plan/play calling to beat a Top 10-level defense.
Miss State was not the superior team on the field. MU got outcoached on both sides of the ball and the players deserved better.
The offense did what Drinkwitz offenses do, and Batoon had no answers for State's tweaks at the end of the game when we needed to shut them down.
And the refs were sad. State's offensive tackles were tackling our defensive ends better than MU's defense was tackling Bothwell.

This is just not a very smart team. Dumb in many respects. Long season ahead.

The key player got shot and that was a bad omen for Missouri and Drinkwitz. If Mizzou had Hardy playing right now we would probably be undefeated.
