they say Chip was instrumental in Drake Maye's development.

Who is they? Every single meaningful stat dropped from 3rd and Longo’s offense to Chip’s offense.

You just made my point about the fan perspective. You say Heupal is meh, but he's been to the CFB playoff coming out of the SEC not some G5 bid. So he goes from Utah State to the CFP but that's not reviving his career? This is why no decisions can be made based on fan perspective.

Huepel = Drinkwitz to this point. Drink would have made the playoffs in 2023. Heupel's shortcomings are well documented which I accurately referenced (only beating cupcakes). It's the same accusation Drink is rightfully hearing. And unless things change neither one is seriously challenging for a title with 9 game schedules.

Back to Mizzou's Lindsey hire... Drink's inability to develop a top flight quarterback is slowly strangling the program. It cost Luther Burden a 1st round draft selection, it lowered Kevin Coleman's stats across the board and now we see a mass exodus of wide receivers. If Olugbode leaves it becomes an unmitigated disaster.

Look, I'm not bagging on the hire. I'm one of the small handful who wasn't openly rooting for Drink to leave. I love his recruiting prowess, but if the 2026 offense looks like a continuation of Kirby Moore, Drink's a dead man walking. I hope Lindsey is the answer but on the surface I was hoping for a flashier resume.

The rushing offense for NC was definitely better. Omarion Hampton ran for 1500 yds as a sophomore Lindsey's first season. May led the team in rushing the year before.

All of his passing stats dropped though. Yards. TDs. Completion %. Rating. Granted he also threw the ball less. But had more picks in fewer attempts.

Initially disappointed in the hire. I was hoping for someone with different style and who could nudge drink to be less conservative. If it is a continuation of Kirby style offense, that might not be terrible if new OC is less predictable and better in game adjustments. 1st drive in the Alabama game and few others, offense looked unstoppable.

Drake Maye, Mack Brown, and "the media".

Our UNC complaints was… you guessed it. Boring, safe, and predictable. Maye’s innate talent polished a lot of Mack Brown and company’s turd fest on that team.

Without grinding through tape Id say that the running game brought the safeties into the box/on the seams and May threw the ball outside the #s more and into man coverage. His YPA was the same.

This is Drinkwitz team. Let wait and see how he manages the team moving on forward.

I believe it's a strong hire..he knows how to develop QBs and is offense is strong enough to win big games..Drink knows you can have all the elite kids but you got to have a elite coaching... that's what separates teams in the SEC

At least one former player echos your thoughts, Broz...

Sounds like they may have been taking more shots downfield with the better run game.

I remember Taylor Powell. Another Arkansas kid. Talked his friend Barret Bannister to walk on at Mizzou. Loved 3rd and Bannister.
