I thought I read he(MM) took off monday to travel to/from Springfield, indicating the infraction didn't involve him being here that day.

Sounds like he needs to keep his mind on his school work and practices as much as he can.

In light of his shoulder being a little bruised/banged up, I would have thought this would be the perfect week to sit him, let him do family visits and rest/heal up. Pinkel clearly didn't see it like that, but now it's going to happen, more or less anyway.

Probably like everyone else, he's also interested in seeing how well DL can do in a full game. I would think that makes a difference before jumping to the decision of transferring.

Why would Mauk transfer (assuming he hasn't graduated)? He's not going to the NFL so experience in that way isn't going to help.

I could understand it from the respect issue after being benched but he seems to have a lot of friends at Mizzou and on the team. I think him transferring is less likely than people anticipate.

And yes, he could transfer to an FCS school and play immediately next season. Division 1 isn't the issue, it's FCS v FBS.

If Mauk did transfer to be closer to his dad, Tulsa could be a possibility

Tulsa isn't closer to Springfield than Columbia.

I'm 99% sure that is not true.

Transfer Guide

I don't read NCAA bylaws or anything like that, but multiple sources have claimed that a player must have at least 2 remaining to become immediately eligible when transferring from FBS to FCS.

As for graduate, the basic gist is that you can only transfer to a school that offers a degree that your previous school did not (a mere technicality, but does limit some aka MO State).

Mizzou has had several guys transfer to FCS schools for their senior year & play.

Last year there were 2 that transferred & played for Sam Houston State. CB Smith, can't remember the other player.

Maybe they were grad transfers I don't know.

Rumor from a pretty solid source. Their daughter is an athlete and associates with members of the football team often. She said Mauk is likely transferring down to Missouri State to play for Steck. His dad is in the Springfield area and his brother coaches at Glendale.

Once again, take that as you will...

Ashton Glaser transfered from Mizzou to Missouri State and played the next year. In 2012 I think.

He only played two years. Mauk would only have one year of eligibility left.

Is it possible that Mauk has so much going on that the suspension was actually the coaching staffs way of letting him off without much damage to him.

If he gets replaced that's disparaging, no one likes that.
If he takes a leave of absence he gets ridiculed for not toughing it out

it's possible, just like it's possible it was all "timed" to help get Pinkel off the "there's no controversy here" hook he put himself on..

as pointed out here, in this thread, the timing really is a blessing for Pinkel.

so in these "grassy knoll" theories did Malik Cueler also "take one for the team"?

conspiracy abounds..

Gave said on a radio interview that Mizzou might need to prepare for next year with Lock being the only scholarship QB that returns.

Printz & Mauk graduate in May. Zanders has already been passed by a younger guy. If those guys want to be starting QBs it likely not going to be at Mizzou.

I stand corrected....thought it was a little closer. Columba is actually slightly closer miles than Tulsa...but they are both 2 hours 48 min travel wise

I already figured Printz would be gone since he has full eligibility as a grad xfer.. he seems to be a cool kid though, he's not saying rat about it now.

Hell he could go take over for Stec at Southwest.

I'm doubting Zanders gets a schollie offer to play QB at D1 elswhere, and he seems set on being a QB but I'm sure he can find something, as the 1st backup at MU next year he might get his chance if he stuck around. It's college so you always want to try and land the best QB in each class, next year is no different than any other.

If I was mock I'd leave. frick dealing with this shite. Yeah I get the position of college football being a business and no longer a game and truth be told I agree. But mauk is right to say frick the fans when they boo. None of us could do it. And he could play at evangel. He won't go pro but he can continue to play an in college

He didn't say that those guys were going to leave, just that common sense says that if those QBs want to be starting QBs it won't be at Mizzou.

Zanders can be a good FBS QB. Put him in a system like what Auburn ran with their last 2 QBs and he could slice up a D. He's a great athlete & great at running the read option. Personally hope he stays, but wouldn't be surprised if he left.

SBU, Drury, and Missouri Southern if Mo State isn't an option.

No because it doesn't explain Cuellar's suspension. I don't buy the drug rumor; just doesn't make sense to me. Since both MM & MC (who are roomies BTW) got suspended at the same time I'm betting on them getting blasted and then they missed or were very late to a team meeting/practice and when called on the carpet, they or at least 1 of them (MM) blew a gasket.
