Some seem to think so?

Edit: figured I would clean up the title a bit.

I was in my early 20's when my Dad was fighting cancer, and lost. Played high school football and would have loved to had football in my life at that time to be able to do and not think about my Dad but I did not. And it would not have helped out like I would have wanted it to.

MM needs to be with family. I have no idea what the suspension is for but I know MM's mind is in Springfield with his family. God Bless MM and the Mauk family.

That is what I was thinking too. It has to be pretty difficult to cope with being a D1 starting QB while at the same time having family related matters.

Maybe he does indeed transfer to MoState?

If he were to transfer, Missouri State is not an option. They don't have any differing masters programs that would be eligible for a graduate transfer.

Oh, that is interesting. I don't know if he will transfer or not, but if the rumors are true and Lock is as good as advertised, it would seem to make sense to start over somewhere.

You would think at some degree the NCAA would step in and acknowledge that his dad is getting cancer treatment next to a lesser-university than where he's at now. It's not like hes trying to beat the transfer system.

You would like to think that, but they denied 2 such cases for eligibility just in the past 2 years.

To where?

If so, I would think Missouri State would be a very favorable place for Mauk. Close to family. Coach Stec would embrace him. Big enough school to be noticed by NFL (although he won't play in the NFL anyhow) if he performs well.

Just conversations with random Mizzou people/friends. No one is saying he IS transferring, but if you add everything up it would appear that might be best for all parties involved at this point. If Maty is wrapped up in a bad friend/party group at Mizzou it would be better for him as a person to put some distance between they and he if he does not have systems in place to steer clear of those issues.

Just my opinion

Mostate is down a level, so I don't think that rule would apply. I could be wrong, but I think of you transfer down you can play right away, he wouldn't even need to graduate to transfer down and play immediately.

Still D1 by NCAA standards. Only chance to go there would be a hardship waiver.

Some radio personality in KC reported he was transferring, but I'd wait for a more reliable source.

That's incorrect. FCS is considered a level below FBS and any transfers to from FBS to FCS are eligible immediately.

If transferring to a Division I school, the athlete must play a sport other than football, men’s or women’s basketball, or baseball. The exception is that an athlete can transfers to a Football Championship Subdivision (FCS or I-AA) school and use this exception provided he or she has at least two seasons of competition remaining. In Division II, any sport may use the one-time transfer exception.

- Mauk doesn't qualify.

I don't know where you got that from, but it's incorrect.

Even if that's true, which I don't think it is. He could easily get a hardship waiver if he wanted. Dad with cancer will do that.

While Graduate school has been brought up, is he graduating already? I know Printz may be I may have missed this fact on Mauk.

Hardship denied

Cancer hardship waiver denied

The NCAA can be awfully heartless.

and I am fairly certain on the requirement for 2 years remaining on the FCS transfer.

Nice solid rundown

Depends. What the infraction was and the staff dictates that a little.
