Let me boil this down for the simpleton....if Jimbo called Sterk today, and said he wanted to come to Missouri and be our HC for 8 plus million a year for 5 years..guaranteed....I’d take and keep Odom and the lesser pay! Any coach can go .500....I’d much rather it cost me 2plus mil than 8 plus, and at least BO would want to be here. BO went 7-5 with 3* kids...Jimbo went 5-6 with 5* guys.
I don’t personally think Jimbo is that great of a coach. But yet he gets paid with the likes of Meyer, Saban, Sweeney.
Would you make the switch?

Jimbo Fisher didn’t lose as many games in his first five years as a head coach as Barry lost in two.

And in the fourth year, he won a natty.

The end.

My bad...you are correct. I knew he was hired as a “coach in waiting” for Bowden, but for some reason I had it in my mind he was a DC instead of OC. Another senior moment. My apologies!

No...not the end....my question to you is....if he wanted to come here with all his baggage and salary, would you fire BO and hire him?

It's pretty much impossible to compare coaches at different tiers of schools.

Not sure why this is even being brought up.

That’s a ridiculous hypothesis.
Mainly because he’s considered an elite coach and we’re not an elite school.
If Phil Jackson wanted to be our basketball coach, do you fire Cuonzo?

So Texas A&M is an elite program in your mind? Cause if reports are correct, that’s where he’s interviewing next. I only put TAM ahead of Missouri just slightly and only because of their recruiting base.
Sooooo maybe it’s not such a rediculous hypothesis after all. Now, Phil Jackson compared to Cuonzo....THATS a rediculous hypothesis.

It was brought up in the salary for BO conversation. There was a lot of bitching going on about a formality that was unnecessary. Things could be worse. We could be stuck with Fisher and his contract.
Of course 808B arse stuck his nose into it, and things got out of hand.

His absence from the board was sure short lived, if there ever was one.

Does it ever feel like your entire life is turning into a senior moment?

I get it if you don't like Jimbo but I think you're letting your dislike of a poster influence you.

That's his number of wins before the horrendous 2017 season. In there was a bowl appearance every single year except this year. A national championship. 5 bowl wins. Finished ranked in the top 25 every year but this, including 4 years finishing in the top 10. I'm not saying he is or is not worth $8m a year, but if I get Jimbo's results for $8m/year versus BO's results for $2m/year, I'll write my donation now.

And their money.

And their fan support.

And their facilities.

And their 100 more wins.

And their 60 fewer losses.

I don't think they're light years ahead of Mizzou currently but again, I think you are oversimplifying things by saying only recruiting territory.

Why are you extrapolating wins at FSU to wins at Mizzou?

It's an impossible comparison?

FSU lost its starting QB early in the season.
Also doesn’t Jimbo only make 5.7 million? Yea I think all of us would be happy with those results.
Although Jimbo cycles through assistant coaches at a way higher rate than BO, and that’s been a criticism of BO.

Because of that. It's just as idiotic to say you would not take Jimbo for this or that reason. That is also why I qualified it with getting his results.

Just used the $8m because he used it.

IMO, at the end of the day, do I think Jimbo is a much better HC than BO? Absolutely.

Do I think it would be worth what it would take to get him (yes, I know we are way out in hypothetical land)? I think you'd have a huge spike in attendance and in recruiting and in fundraising. That would probably all more than pay for his salary. Having said that, no, it is not even a consideration so I am happy to give BO another year. He earned it and hopefully he earns the extension.

If you check out fans and higher ups in Tallahassee, they will disagree with you. They’re tired of his theatrics, and holding up the University for more money.
I’ll take a chance on building our program with BO instead of paying a guy who holds us up for ransom every time a job opening comes up, and his name is attached to it.
Mary Poppins could coach at FSU, and the stands would be full. 5* recruits nearly beg to go there. Pretty easy to have success with those players. 6-6 isn’t considered success there. Let’s see if he could coach 3* and have that kind of success, and no he wouldn’t get those 5’s to come to Mizzou.
So, the money we’re paying BO is not too much. It’s early in his coaching career, so the jury is still out if he will be successful or not. But I sure am glad we don’t have to pay the money FSU has to pay to get 6 wins.
I wonder what Tenn, A&M, UCLA, Florida, Arky and the rest are going to have to shell out for 6 wins!

It was reported today that if FSU terminated his 5 years remaining on his contract, that the school would owe him 40 million. I extrapolated that to be 8million per year. I could be wrong, but that’s what my math came up with.
