Drinkwitz has grown this year.

It hasn’t been the season that we expected going in, but it’s been much better than we expected after the Tennessee game.

Wilks saved his job, too. Didn’t think I’d be saying that.

Also, Drink needs to hire an OC/play caller for next year.

Point 1 agree
Point 2 agree
Point 3 I've been saying that most of the year

After the BC loss, I thought 6 wins wouldn't happen. The team played hard toward the end of the season and it looks like Drink never lost the team.

The thing that scares me is that Badie has been the only consistent performer and they will have to all improve big time next year. Maybe Burden can step in and make an impact.

I agree. But I think we need to recall this is being done with Cement Heads 2 and 1 stars. He did not recruit them, and they have not spent their underclass years studying his playbook.

Watching CB limp around has been maddening. But I recall that he's the only qb in the room that Drink actively recruited in his previous job. So there's a level of trust and knowledge there.

I still think 2023 is when we REALLY find out what we have in this coach. But next year is looking better.

If the Defense started like they've been playing now Mizzou would have won the UK and BC games and would be 8-3 (4-3) right now. However we are where we are and I'm glad the team was able to take advantage of some faltering teams down the stretch.

If "ifs" and "buts" were candy and nuts it would be Christmas all year long.

I wouldn't necessarily disagree but I have a hard time thinking he'd relinquish it.

I do wonder if he has anyone on staff who analyzes his playcalling to discern playcalling patterns. It definitely feels like he gets into extended ruts (like the elimination of any pre-snap motion) which leads to his offense becoming predictable and stale.

I can't believe what we've seen in almost two full seasons is what his ultimate offensive vision is.

I think he has pared-down his playbook significantly because of CB's lack of mobility and ultimately his poor deep-ball.

His pre-snap movement, in my opinion, works best when he had a QB that can attack the space created. With CB basically being reduced to staying in the pocket he has no one that can exploit the confusion.

We have got to put things in perspective. Dan Mullen played to lose. Mizzou played to win and got lucky as hell in the end. We beat a down LSU team last year and a down Flordia team this year. If you guys think about it, this level of performance by the team isn't that far off from last year. I still agree that next year is the year we know who he is.

Also, don't mistake by keeping Bazelak in there as a good decision. It worked out but before that throw, he was having an abysmal game.

Drinkwitz has made a helluva improvement from games 8-11 going 3-1. From the worst run defense to the ability to stop the run is amazing. His play calling needs improvement i.e. yesterday, after shank punt and only get three is on the coach. At any rate we have the right coach..MIZ

There is no doubt he is the right coach. But he needs an OC to give the offense an identity. Drink embraces the trick play, but what is the actual offensive identity? He recruited blue chips at QB, WR and RB in 1 class. Time to get a good OC to unleash their talent. Just look at what Briles has done with Arkansas.

The question remains

Would Drink relinquish play calling?

Would this be something the A.D. or someone would suggest he do?

I don't think so. 6, maybe 7 wins and a bowl spot...and her being new. She won't suggest anything.

Nah, he’s a good OC/play caller. REALLY good at times.

He’s doing great, but I still don’t understand the QB thing. No way Cook and Macon can be THAT bad. This is my one beef with him

Arkansas fans hate Briles

Before CB got hurt the offense was playing well. With all the studs he’s bringing in it’s going to be great. No doubt in my mind.

His offense, and really any offense, works better when your QB is a threat to run. We are leaving a lot of yards on the field not having that threat.

On Bazalak, he is the best. Macon doesn't see the field that well and Cook is better than Mason but Bazalek gives us the best chance to win..Drink is ahead of Pinkel as far as year two, however Pinkel built the program from scratch and it took the 8th season to be really good ..Drink is building his foundation

Lol, yes he is. That’s why he keeps getting jobs doing it.

Go watch the second drive of the SC game again, understand the situation, and watch the absolute clinic he puts on.

He’s good, and at times VERY good.

The problems the offense are currently experiencing can be almost 100% contributed to QB play

Yeah. We've got a weird relationship with our Coordinators this year. Briles does call some utterly baffling plays but even when he does well the fans can't stand him. Meanwhile Odom's defense can give up 600 yards of offense and the fans still love him.

At least Briles has an identity for your offense. He attacks with tempo. Bama is a little undisciplined in the secondary this year (which must piss Saban off to mo end), so is Texas. Briles makes them pay. I saw the play where Jobe actually ran into his safety on a rub play which resulted in an Arkansas TD. Maybe with the blue chip skill players coming in Drink will unleash his offense.
