Football Program Expectations ?

I will admit I'm completely out of touch this off season. Not sure why I disconnected, but I did. Now playing catch up....
Who the heck will be our starting QB?
Win / Loss Predictions ?
We travel to a couple away games a year and I'm targeting Auburn. I was targeting OU as well, but the ticket price is double Auburn and Vandy ticket prices. Why in the heck would I pay that with the other options available?

I personally have no idea but I'll bet you'll see all the prognosticators put us at 6-6 or 7-5. We lost a QB, WR, OL and most of our road games are against teams we barely beat at home.

Honestly not sure. The schedule sets up pretty nicely, but QB OL and other question marks and holes needing to be filled. There’s a lot of “ifs” this season that could mean a great year, or a bit of a decline.
If the transfers all play at a high level
If the QB is better than expected
If the WR and RB positions play at a high level
If the D transfers gel
If we protect home field
Etc

Here's how it's gonna shake down for the first 10 games. We'll be 5-0 coming into the Bama game. We'll, rightfully, put a lot into this game, but lose at the end. The hangover will travel with us to Auburn the following week, resulting in back-to-back losses to the Alabama schools.
However, we will rally and win the next 3 weeks, giving us an 8-2 record heading to Norman. That's where my prediction stops. I think Oklahoma will be good this year, but not sure how good yet, but it's possible that the winner of our Nov 22nd showdown will be a playoff team.

I have no prediction for the win/loss record but there are positives for this year.
Most preseason people put us middle of the pack.
The analyst Cole Kubilec had a video rating sec defenses. He placed Missouri as second best. So defense should be good.
On Offense Qb is the big question. We will find out how Sam Horn does in the baseball draft next month. Beau Pribula looked good in the second half of the Penn State/Wisconsin game last year. Check him out on Youtube. The full game is on there. I didn't see any "oh he sucks" comments from Penn State fans when he transferred. They were all positive which I think says something.
Luther and Theo are gone. We have good WR still but who will become a star? I remember a smart play from Theo in the Oklahoma game when he reached out and batted down a pass he knew he could not catch but was going to be a sure interception. Are the current receivers experienced enough to do that?
We have been spoiled with good offensive tackle play the last two years but both of them are gone. Hopefully we are not reminded of what happens when offensive tackles cannot handle edge rushers.

I know Horn is on the roster but Pribula is the guy heading to the Manning camp. He is going to be the starter. The question is can he make all the throws on the tree. He looks to be a great all around athlete with an unproven arm. Huge question mark IMO.
The RB room looks solid. Luper is one of the best in business and I expect his two deep to produce.
Jones has his work cut out for him. Replacing two draft picks outside is no easy task but the middle of the line should be stout. We might see more Duo and IZ this year.
Manning, Coleman, Blood, and Johnson can all make things happen with the ball in their hands. Norfleet has to stay healthy. I like the way Harris blocks but he had too many drops last year.
The defense could be great. Batoon has a good front 7 and experience on the back end.
Noel, Norfleet, and Cook getting hurt early last year resulted in the offense being very mediocre come SEC play. If they are a TD better per game this year, it could be another double digit win season. It all rests on what Pribula can develop into and what kind of OT play Jones can get out of the transfers.

10-2 minimum....need to take a step up and beat Bama.

I think there is enough skill talent to have a good offense but Pribula has to be able to drive the ball down field vs man coverage and hit the hole shot vs cover 2. He looks like a gifted runner but his tape doesn't show any of the throws the offense needed last year. That and two new OTs are why prognosticators are thinking 7ish wins. A lot of things are going to have to go right to win 10 games for a 3rd season in a row IMO.

I am wondering if his decision to go to an off season camp this summer is any indication that he needs to make some improvements as a college quarterback and do well for Mizzou this coming season.

Seeing as how almost every top QB prospect in the nation is attending, and assuming that every QB strives to improve and lead their teams to success, I'd say you can stop wondering.

Is Horn attending there too?

Horn is going to be in high A ball this time next year.

We could have said the same about Brady Cook, I really don't think the qb gap between BP and BC is that big talent wise. I do think the leadership void is the real gap.

None of Pribula's tape shows a throw outside the numbers from the pocket. Cook could get the ball out there but he couldn't place it well enough to matter. If Pribula can't make those throws, Norfleet is going to have to have a monster year and Pribula is going to have to run a lot to move the chains.

I think him going to camp should be a difference maker. Cook didn't do much and was never had a cannon of an arm. That really hurt his chance to do well in the next level. He was a 3* for a reason. BP is a better version of Cook and he has the tools to get to the next level. Cook didn't it done. Also the team wasn't as talented as this team will be and has more backups and rotational players due to picking up a lot more players from the transfer portal. This year Drinkwitz has figured out what he needs to compete for the playoffs spot this coming season. This team should be much better than last season.

We three-peat for another 10 win season, 3 in a row.
Possibly finish with 11, might get hot and run the table. Schedule is soft and it sets us up for a nice runway into the playoffs.
You guys are all talking offense. Defense wins championships and I think you're forgetting about 'Death Row'.

Double digit regular season wins is going to require scoring more than 23 PPG in conference play. I think the rushing offense is going to be dynamic, but they have 4 teams on the schedule with front 7s that stand a chance of taking that away. Can Pribula beat a team from the pocket? Hard to say with 57 total passing attempts.

It's a shame a coach who's been our best recruiter ever, and built his bones on offense. hasn't to date locked down an elite QB. Despite his less than elite recruiting, Pinkel always had good to great quarterbacks.
