...but in talking to my Mizzou friends, I've never seen/heard such apathy about the coming season.

Agreed. No enthusiasm. I think Drink's performance last year was just "not good enough" that everyone is just assuming this year will put him on the hot seat.

The defense has been so bad I get it. Hard to be excited when there is no evidence your HC can build a defense.

I’m excited for the season and think we will be competitive in every game outside of UGA

I tend to surround myself with fellow loyalist. We are excited as always… I expect the others to start paying attention if we can get into Auburn 3-0

(Side note: with todays bad news for Auburn hopefully it is a game we have a better chance at winning)

If they play a wide open style and go 6-6 playing in shootouts Drink will still be able to sell it.

If not patience will start growing thin. Although I'd certainly give him as much time as Odom had if not a season more.

Drink will get a minimum of 4 years. There is just no guarantee he will get full fan support for those 4 years.

I'm very excited to see what we have. MU is under the radar nationally and some fans are apathetic because of rearview mirror syndrome. I get it. Our 5-5 2020 season and the performance of Bazelak had everyone pumped for 2021. Then got let down. Here is why I'm excited for 2022:

1. Outstanding receivers' room
2. New DC, portal transfers and a healthy Rakestraw will produce a much-improved defense.
3. Lots of experience on O-Line coming back
4. Indications Drink is looking to open up the offense. Offense was supposed to be his forte, but he sure didn't show it in 2022. I think he returns to what we expected when he came in.
5. Everyone is too worried about not having a proven starting QB. Of course it is important, but you got 4 guys in that room. Someone will emerge as at a minimum a serviceable QB.

Let's Go!!!

The OL from Buffalo is eligible to play this year. Anyone know why he is eligible?

7-5 would be a success this year. Anything from 4-8 to 9-3 would not surprise me though. We have no idea what kind of team this will be.

QB by committee sucks arse IMO. I hope someone steps up and rises above the pack there.

Defense has no where to go but up. So that’s a positive.

College football is still the best product out there. So even if Mizzou isn’t great, I’ll still be watching as much CFB as possible.

INeligible. Probably academics. Speculation is some Buffalo credits did not transfer.

Why did it take a long time to get this straighten out? It should've been known right away or shortly after, so Drinkwitz could've gotten someone else from the transfer portal.

Sorta opposite for me. I’ve heard more excitement for next year than I’ve heard the last few years. Prob a lot to do with Luther but whatever helps

I'm not "excited" about this year's team because last year's team was probably my least favorite Mizzou team in many years.

Badie was a player and everyone else in black and gold was putrid. Disgustingly bad.

I think part of my excitement is the chance to finally put last year to rest. I’ve reflected last year during the off season more than any season.

I'm optimistic. I think the constant drumbeat from the local media about the QBs/Sam Horn to MLB (That was never going to happen) wore on a lot of folks, and colored the national perception. I never understood any of it. The QBs we have are serviceable good, with a high upside in Horn. The Receiver room is such that decent is all they need to be. The defense came together late in the year, and much depth has been added to both lines in the offseason.

As bad as some of that was, most of the games were close, and in 4 losses, they were one red zone play, or one defensive stop, from a 9-4 record.

I am pumped. Ready to get this show on the road, I love Mizzou spots and college football. It's my favorite time of year.

I think some folks are going to be pleasantly surprised with our offense. We hit 7-8 wins, and I'll be happy man -- then next season we drop the hammer.

I want to get excited about Burden and Horn. Last year really pissed me off and I'm afraid if we have another lackadaisical then we lose them in the portal.

ETA--what bothered me the most (really everyone but Badie) was that I saw the players seemed to not give max effort when on the field and that was a bad reflection on Drink.

Here's hoping we have a great season. Having said that, my titanium cup is firmly in place. We are Mizzou fans after all.
