So who is set up to play on our secondary? I think that's a position of weakness if I'm not mistaken...? That should open a scholly though. This could be the biggest class mizzou has taken in a very very long time.

Pinkel noted personal reasons but would not give detail. I thought he would be a starter this year. Really disappointed he's not gonna be on the team.

That is really disappointing. Our secondary is going to be hurting this year, I'm afraid.

So does that make Abbington, Thompson and Singleton? Am I missing anyone else? Was really hoping to see him contribute this year. So our small class keeps getting smaller. Is everyone else enrolled and present?

So does this make it more or less likely that he'll be playing for the Tigers this season?

I pulled this from a Dave Matter article:
Obviously, something changed in the last seven days.
quote:
Here was Singleton's Facebook status on July 25: "Man words cant even describe how I feel right now.. I put so much into being where I am today and to be here. one word ?# Blessed ?# SEC ?# mizzou"
Obviously, something changed in the last seven days.

I just wonder if he was somehow ineligible or could not make the grades or get his credits to transfer. Personal reasons is just something to say so people do not ask about it anymore and it does not shed a bad light on the recruit. Either way this one hurts because I viewed him as a starter this season.

Safeties coach Alex Grinch response to being asked about Singleton. "There's high standards and sometimes guys disappoint you."

So he's apparently gotten into some trouble, or done something they won't overlook. That's a shame. He had the potential to make an impact this year.

While regrettable, I hope it was something serious because Pinkel has lost the ability to preach from a holier than thou pulpit. They have now changed it to show the 4 captains, but I got a good laugh when I checked out the website garypinkel.com for the first time. Plastered on the first page was something along the lines of "WE ARE FAMILY". Of course, I couldn't help but thinking, yeah, we are family....until something younger and better comes along, right coach?

That is one of the dumbest comments on this board and that is saying something. Pinkel's responsibility with holding players accountable is COMPLETELY independent of his own actions. Pinkel's has to discipline kids based on the AD and University of Missouri, not his own actions.
As for your "family" comment. Obviously the team was more important than his wife. That essentially flies in the face of the point you were trying to make.

FIFY
Not sure what else is dumb about it. All I'm saying is I would assume it is something more serious than a DWI or getting caught smoking dope and that that's regrettable. I don't question Pinkel's authority to take whatever actions he deems advisable, whether under his own volition or because of rules handed down by the AD or others.
Saying the team was more important than his wife...now that is a dumb comment. The guy has been flat out distracted, from both his wife and the team IMO, for the last couple of years.

1) He is still with the team, not his wife.
2) He promised his wife he'd be retired by now when he took the Mizzou job. He has not. Not sure what else needs to be said.

Ummm. There was nothing dumb about that comment.
The foundation of Pinkels program was the word 'family'. He royally fricked his own family. How can you not see the correlation? You can't preach the importance of family while backstabbing your real family.

Thanks mogray. Said it better than myself.

They are unrelated and irrelevant. Pinkel has not done anything but show absolute loyalty and family virtues towards his football program.
Using Pinkel's personal family or personal time actions as the standard by which his coaching decisions are made is idiotic. It is like saying a police officer can't arrest someone for a crime because they themselves were once arrested. Just like a police officer has to enforce the law regardless of his personal beliefs and activities, Pinkel has to run the program as required to properly represent the AD and Mizzou regardless of his personal life.
Again, I want Pinkel gone, but the guy has shown more dedication and family values towards the football program than anyone. His divorce does nothing to change that. It only shows Pinkel values his football program (or football family) more than his marriage.

You're an idiot, but that's okay. Not everyone can have an IQ above 20.

Great. But when your #1 sales pitch to people is family, and you backstabbed your very own, that sales pitch loses value.

No. It's like the DARE officer preaching 'no drugs'. Then get's arrested with a car full of cocaine. The kids he's been preaching to can not possibly take him as serious as before.

No. It only shows he values young vagina more than old vagina.
