If that was his plan, it was a stupid plan. BTW I believe he wanted to leave, but if he was trying to stir fortune 500 donations, he doesn't understand corporate donations.

Fortune 500 companies are national/international companies that are publicly owned. They don't just throw money at a college football team that there is no direct connection. Most corporate donations carry the company name but really come from rich CEOs or stock holders. For example Kroger field University of KY. The donation actually came from the CEO who graduated from KY not Kroger Corporate. Walmart sponsorship comes from the Walton family not Walmart.

Calling out Fortune 500 companies doesn't spur them to donate. Building a mutual beneficial relationship is what works.

I don't disagree. But most football coaches are pretty stupid outside of football.

If Walmart sponsorship comes from the Waltons then what's up with the Walmart logo all over the field?

Walmart does pay for their name on the field.

Like Venture does at LSU.

Like Shelter and Equipment Share do at Mizzou.

Exactly what I wrote, you have to establish a mutual beneficial relationship. Not call them out.

What do RGA, Centene, Edward Jones, Graybar, Ameren and O’Reilly have to do with Mizzou?

That’s a serious question.

Walmart has a long history of donating to Arkansas athletics. They’re just up the road from the university.

I don’t know of any natural ties between the local Fortune 500 companies and Mizzou athletics.

Corporate success for Mizzou is going to be through hitting 50 singles and doubles. Not two home runs.

Not having Club V as a Red Zone partner is a huge miss.

The AD establishes relationships and sells benefits. For example, Edward Jones wants to give 1 million. Edward Jones considers

1. Average crowd size at the stadium
2. Demographics of the crowd
3. Brand exposure on ABC, ESPN and SEC Network.
4. And yada, yada, yada

If everything looks good, here's your money. The AD has done his job.

I received new information this morning about this. According to my source the Drinkwitz to Penn State deal fell through. We have no idea who they are hiring now, maybe Bob Chesney, maybe Manny Diaz, maybe Kenny Chesney ??

I was told by someone with connections two+ weeks ago his wife didn't want to go.

If someone approaches you, you have to listen. I won't pretend to know if Drink was interested in Penn State or using it to try (hamhandedly or not) to raise more NIL, but I do think his intention all along has been to stay. He went on the record as saying he's being paid enough, so he wasn't trying to leverage more pay for himself.

If I were Drink I would have thought long and hard about Penn State too. For Mizzou to compete with our upcoming 9 game schedules is going to be incredibly difficult. Brutal. He's going to need top resources and be at the top of his game in all areas of coaching. In the B1G he'd still have multiple gimme games and Penn State has been as patient with their coaching as any blueblood I can think of.

I'm not sure any HC is up to the upcoming task at Mizzou and I hope I'm wrong. He'll have to be very, very special.

OMG, I will lose my sh*t if they also announce an extension for Moore. I hope we don't put Drink in the 11 million a year range.

Sv made it sound like there was no connection between corporations and sponsorships, just rich individuals who are happy to let the company they work for take all the credit.

You wouldn't be alone. The only hope for the Eli regime is an overhaul of the offensive staff and special teams.

If Kirby's not fired what small amount of goodwill Drink has left would be gone anticipating more of the same.

Haha, BOC is meeting today to extend Drink further. As an alum from the 80s, and a financial supporter of Mizzou athletics for a long time, personally, I am happy to keep Drinkwitz at Mizzou. I would like to see a new OC, but Mizzou needs to keep Drink long term. He will keep pushing and get us over the hump!

That’s true in a lot of cases. Not every case.

Neither Edward Jones nor Reinsurance Group nor Centene are going to throw millions of dollars at Mizzou football. There’s no synergy there, imo.

Drink sees what a couple other programs have pulled off and thinks that it’s easily replicable.

The landscape of Northwest Arkansas is also very different than St. Louis/CoMo.

Makes more sense to hit Veterans United, MBS, Farmers/Midwest Block and Brick, Sydenstricker, and maybe Ameren since their nuke plant is just down the road in Callaway County.

I will continue my push for a Club V Redzone partnership.

"The Tigers have entered the Club V Red Zone. When you are looking to score Club V can help you make it happen. You can score a rub n tug, a gram, and possibly herpes all in one place. Club V is here to help you cross the goal line."

Yeah.

Also, provide some frameworks for smaller companies to create/participate in local collectives. They are probably already doing this to some degeee based on Venom’s comments.
