Guys with elite vision and a good enough first step will always get a shot. Making the final roster will be the challenge.

In most cases absolutely not. We were discussing this yesterday. He would be very successful on a team that used zone blocking like Mizzou does. His vision and burst is a natural fit.

The problem is the NFL has almost given up on zone blocking because running backs can't run it properly and with the devalue of the position, no one has the patience to teach it.

If drafted by Pittsburgh or Baltimore he has a chance. They both prefer zone blocking and the rb 1 cut and go. So it really depends on the right fit

I would love to know what his 10 yard time is compared to top NFL backs like say Christian McCaffery.

The biggest misevaluation of Brock Purdy was his 10 yard time. It's .01 of a second less than Lamar Jackson. All Purdy did in college was produce, but where the pro scouts missed was on his short area elusiveness to extend plays.

Schrader's vision, power, cutting ability and production are pro level and my guess is his initial burst is too. Now whether that pro level is NFL or XFL remains to be seen, but I definitely think he's going to make a living in the pros.

He honestly reminds me of Terrell Davis where he finds the seam and then explodes through it. I'd love to see a side by side of them on film to see if I'm looking at Schrader thought Black & Gold Oakley's. Regardless, he seems like a perfect fit for a zone blocking offense.

Correction... now you got me and my buddies discussing this again. San Diego runs zo e blocking for Ekeler. He is built just like Schrader and from Utah State or Wyoming. Anyway not a big time back. But he worked his azz off and now takes most of the carries, so the Chargers run zone blocking for him.

Nope, you have it exactly right. Terrell Davis played for Denver when they were the undisputed Champs in Zone Blocking. So Davis and Schrader have alot in common.

It's all about fit. He could go to San Diego, and he and Ekeler could play for 4-5 years together.

Shanahan uses a zone blocking scheme.

Time will tell. He has shown he can be productive. Someone in the NFL should take note and give him a chance.

Eli seems to like giving a guy with the will and ability the featured back role that gets 90% of the snaps. Can Nate Peat step into this role next year?

Peat gone. And can't you see how terribly uncomfortable he is with zone blocking? He's very much a power blocking scheme back.

Howard Richards told Cusumano there's a freshman in the Schrader mold who's carving them up in practices.

I don't recall the name he mentioned, but I'm sure some of you have a very good idea who it is.

Late round/ undrafted free agent. May get invites to a pre season camp. He has a strong work ethic. Bet he ends up on special teams somewhere.
