Travis is an asshat.

He destroyed Dooley when he was at Tennessee.

His powerpoint has always been far better then his results on the field... His record speaks for itself.

Can't make this shite up

"Dooley once made an orange ceramic dog his team’s unofficial mascot. He encouraged his players to feed the orange dog, which represented positive thinking. The red dog, on the other hand, represented negative thinking."

Worth a read
DooDoo

wu. You have 8 months to oversell the DD hire.

You'll need a hell of a lot more then a couple of Clay Travis quotes.

I take a different approach to fandom. I will support the guy until he proves that he can’t do it.

The truth is that no one knows if he can be a good OC. I also don’t think we will know how good he is until his second or third season. If Lock comes back, any OC should put a productive offense on the field in 2018.

fandom=contractually obligated to over hype spin and oversell.

He's never been an OC. He's never worked with or coached QB's. He's never called an offensive play.

Tennessee also hires a guy that’s never called plays.

That doesn’t mean they can’t do the job, just that we don’t know if they can.

There’s no grasping, I’m just going to give the guy a chance.

Feel free to join me in giving all the new hires a chance.

With Lock back I expect the offense to be good next season.

You could hear that when we hired our basketball coach too. Maybe it's the new theme for Mizzou.

Re #Mizzou’s hire of Derek Dooley as OC & QB coach: I’m told a few candidates who had interviewed for that job & have much more experience in those roles than Dooley, had turned it down due to the terms of the proposed deals.

This makes it worse.

I don't want to believe it, but this actually makes sense to me considering how long it took for us to hire a candidate.

Interested to know what "proposed deals" made coaches decline.

I was worried this may have played a part in the search when Dooley was announced.

Whether Sterk and MU admin like it or not, the circus around Aranda at LSU and A&M signals the new reality for top asst. salaries. We are going to have to pay for quality, whether they want to or not.

I assumed this was why we did not get Werner, but I hear he took a QB job for less dollars that what Dooley got.
Not sure what happened there.

Maybe one of the proposed deals was that the new OC couldn't take the head coach position if BO was fired even in the interim.

It’s probably less about salary than buyout terms. That’s the area of contracts that Mizzou has lagged behind other P5 schools.

I was wondering if it was something along those lines as well. One word Odom has brought up within the last few weeks is loyalty. It was even mentioned in the statement on Dooley. I was wondering if there were any years of service requirements associated with the contract.

You think there was a minimum of games coached associated to the buyout? For instance, you receive your full agreed upon buyout if you meet 24 games coached. Otherwise you forfeit your buyout if you leave within one to two years.

We'll have a high octane offense next year, but much of it will graduate at end of next year.

I seriously think BO wants to make sure the next OC stays past Lock's graduation. This was my biggest concern about Fisch.

I DEFINITELY believe that Jed Fisch would not have stayed past 2018. The other candidates, I don't know.

On the brightside, Mizzou has done more with less at the OC position.

Only starters next season will be seniors. Maybe 5 if Brown wins the outside WR job.
Lock, Hall, Adams, Pendleton.

If DD can get a QB in place to replace Lock, the offense should be good for at least the next 2 seasons.

Werner took a job making probably a 1/3 to 1/2 of what Dooley is being paid as OC here. That’s not about buyout provisions.
