His last season at Tennessee, their offense finished 18th in in offense.

I’m less worried about play calling than the Sunday to Friday coaching that takes place.

I'm warming to the Derek Dooley hire.

Was on Saban's staff
Head coaching experience
NFL experience

Hey, people learn from their mistakes.

All it took me was once after getting pulled over, not to ask the Trooper to hold my beer while I looked for my license.

I’m just really surprised Odom was willing to pay him more than Huepel without ever calling plays before.

This . . . will not end well, I fear.

He wasn’t calling plays at Tennessee. His OC was. He has never called plays in his life! He’s never put together an offensive scheme in his life. Other than a couple HC jobs, he’s basically been a position coach, and nothing else.
Either Odom knows something none of us know, or he has a death wish for his job. Darndest thing I’ve ever seen.

No Experience as OC

No experience coaching QB's

Reasons why this is a shite hire.

This is the part that I am worried about. Although he has been involved in putting together schemes and game planning, so may not be an issue.

That's the thing that bothers me most. 900k is going to buy a lot of coordinators.

The fact that this guy has no experience doing anything he will be tasked to do is beyond concerning. Especially when you have a defensive head coach. The fact that he is literally the punch line to jokes in SEC country is just salt in the wound.

It is what it is. Hopefully BO knows something I don't.

Shout out to Derek who keeps failing up.

He was getting a $100k check every month until last Dec. 13 months later he gets a borderline 7-figure job.

It's just part of BO's "Grand Vision"

Whether that is impaired vision, doubled vision, or no vision remains to be seen.

DD hasn't won anywhere he's been.

Yet BO forks out 900k..... Laughable.

Where was Sterk? lol

He won a championship as an assistant with Saban. He hasn’t been a good HC, but that’s not the job he was hired for. Just about every offense DD has been associated with has been good.

It’s still a huge risk, that I’m suprised BO took. If DD isn’t good, it will be the reason BO is fired. Safer options were available.

I don’t get it. It’s just a very risky and out of nowhere hire from someone who was quite possibly a few more losses from getting fired. I’d rather have any of the other candidates than him. At least Heupel had experience and success calling plays elsewhere. I hope this works out, but I’m just not seeing it.

I don’t know how he got the Tennessee job when he had a losing record at Louisiana Tech.

As for Sterk, I suspect he's allowing BO to hang himself with his own rope.

From @ClayTravis on the #Mizzou Derek Dooley hire: I think it's a good hire. And I know some people think that's crazy. Based on what I know about Missouri right now, it appears likely Drew Lock is going to return. He wants someone who can bring him a more pro style offense.

From @ClayTravis: People are killing the Missouri hire of Derek Dooley, and I think that's because of what people think happened with him at Tennessee. But, I'm not sure many coaches could have done better. He took over a mess of a UT program.
