If Gibbs, it would have been announced already. An outside hire means lawyers involved, and perhaps a desire to wait until after the title game. If, as I think, Drink is hoping to make an impression with transfers and recruits, then better to have the news cycle to himself for a bit.
Drink is not a former jock turned coach, one must remember that.
Observation: the best coach's do not emerge from those big studs out on the field. Look for the skinny back up on the end of the bench with a clipboard. Or that graduate assistant fetching and carrying.

That would make sense

Why? He'd be here a year maybe two

Is he one of the 10 on the list of candidates?
Why taking a long time? No other reason unless waiting for LSU to hire one so Drinkwitz can get one without other HCs trying to pry a coach away and/or start a bidding war.

Just because it's taking so long. I could see him being slow to decide whether he could work for Drink. Can't imagine someone like Staggs would take this long.

That seems to work for saban. Why fear good things happening?

Nick Saban been HC and is at Alabama! Drinkwitz can't keep changing DC every year or so. Got to get someone to stick around long enough to get continuity for the team that is trying to compete in the SEC.

Fear? Not at all. I know assistants come and go.
Drink and muschamp are both alphas.. Not sure how that would work.

Muschamp has 2 failed HC jobs. It's going to take alot of rehab before he gets another shot. He would need to have Mizzou playing very well on defense for 4-5 years. Mason is high character and only has 1 hc failure so he's about 2 years before another opportunity but not Muschamp.

I believe Drink will NOT go the retread route. The game has changed too much in the last few years. It will most likely be someone we have not heard of. Younger, more flexible, willing to change schemes as needed.

Sure he can. It all depends on drink's style. The reason Saban can turnover coaches so much is that he doesn't hire the coach to bring in their expertise. Saban brings in coaches to teach them how to coach the way he wants them to coach.
But either way, if muschamp comes and leaves in 2 years because we had a great defense, why is Mizzou having a great defense a bad thing? That means success. I'd rather have success with coaching turnover instead of no success because we take too many risks on unknowns.
Fearing success just seems crazy in sports. the point is to win and whatever happens after winning is mostly irrelevant.

Mush amp turned down Texas. Maybe he just doesn’t like Sark or Austin, but I’d have to say it would be a hard pull for us. The good thing is that he is making a ton of buyout money from SCAR so the salary likely isn’t a big deal

Also possible will stay for 3 or more years rather than jump ship after 1 or 2 years.

Every time retread gets mentioned I think of when we got Derek Dooley on board as the OC we all thought it was a B+ hire when in reality it was like a C- to D+ hire... Especially considering we had IMO one of the best offensive classes of the decade in 2018 and a really good one in 2019. I'll take an up and coming coach over a retread any day.

I’d like a DC now.
Tyson Ford is announcing soon (probably OU but I believe he does like Mizzou also) and Adeoye is on the transfer market (we could REALLY use him)
I want Drink to get the hire right of course but there is urgency here
