I’d like a DC now.

Tyson Ford is announcing soon (probably OU but I believe he does like Mizzou also) and Adeoye is on the transfer market (we could REALLY use him)

I want Drink to get the hire right of course but there is urgency here

Good thing you are not the HC! He need to do what is best for the players, fans and the coaches. There are other HCs that are looking for DC too. Drinkwitz isn't going the Barry Odom route. One interview and I was blown away! Then hired Dooley! No way he is doing that and maybe looking for one in the NFL that still have a game to play.

I don't think people were optimistic about the Dooley hire when it happened

Coach Drink said on 590 yesterday he was in no hurry to hire a DC... Guessing that's just him politely blowing off the question??

I mean Tenner hires Steele.. SC hires white.. what else is he waiting for? OR.. Does he already have his man, and are just working out the details?

That ILB out of Texas seems all but gift wrapped for MIZZOU's taking.. Hoping to see a DC hired soon.

It's nice to be exited about MIZZOU Football in January regardless lol

Lefty don't play after midnight. If you get him wet, a bunch of little "lefties" pop out of his back, and those little guys post some nasty shite.

What about bringing back Craig Kuligowski and making him our DC

Won't happen, he burned bridges with the playbook fiasco.

Also, he wasn't considered D-Coordinator material to the head coaches he worked under, ie - Mark Richt, Pinkel, and definitely not from Saban.

*edit - He is a "co-defensive coordinator" at Toledo

From the outside, that seems like a good idea. But Kul made his bones teaching flawless techniques to get to the QB. And for all the respect he got for that, no one was grooming him for a future DC. There must be a reason.

A handful of names have emerged among the candidates for the job on Drinkwitz’s staff, sources have told FootballScoop. Among them: Alabama’s Charles Kelly, Cleveland Browns assistant Chris Kiffin, in-house candidate David Gibbs, and veteran coach Mike Stoops, who’s served as an analyst the past two seasons for Nick Saban at Alabama.

Kelly the CO DC of BAMA would be a great get also IMO..

quote:

Kelly: A college football veteran presently serving as the Tide’s associate defensive coordinator and a specialist in the secondary, Kelly has deep experience and recruiting ties throughout the South with stops at Georgia Tech, Florida State, Tennessee and ‘Bama. He’s been with the Tide for the past two seasons after a one-year stint as defensive coordinator on Jeremy Pruitt’s first Tennessee staff in 2018

Not a popular opinion I'm sure, but I find this list disappointing and I hope it's crap. Unless his first name is Monte, I don't want or trust a Kiffin. Kelly couldn't cut it for Pruitt at UT. If he couldn't build anything there with their talent, why would he work at Mizzou. Stoops OU defense was TERRIBLE! And with the SEC offenses more wide open, why would he be any better at Mizzou? Just my opinion.

lol He was there for one whole year..... Besides, he seems good enough for Saban.

I have to ask.. besides Staggs. Who are you wanting?

I read it as, these names candidates mentioned... have been confirmed .

But that doesn't mean the names mentioned necessarily are all of the candidates? OR am I reading too much into it?

List is made up. Article loaded with CYA wording, multiple uses of the word "among". PBS throwing crap at wall to see if anything sticks.

Very well could be. You guys know more about scoops than I do...... My attitude from here on out is, it happens when it happens.

I noticed rockmnation threw out the same list of names this morning, and included Thigpen DC at NC.

Agree no to Stoops though.

Meanwhile the rest of the SEC has hired their DC's.
