ESPN has out SOS ranking at 59 currently.

That probably goes up if UT loses even more.

Sagarin has us at 60 and the second easiest schedule in the SEC. Facts.

It’s hard to believe that Tennessee and Florida are this bad this year.
If McCann doesn’t kick it to Samuel, Mizzou could be 7-2 or 6-3 right now.

I tend to agree with this. Really unfortunate that we lost that SC game. Could have really changed the season. That Purdue game had me very confused, but I like Odom as a coach and person. He seems to have a great idea of what he’d like to do with the program. My main reservations are with recruiting, but if he were in my kids living room I’d like everything he stands for. Unfortunately that doesn’t matter to a lot of recruits.

Hooooray. We beat up on a team that didn't bother to show up.

Same as last year. Team comes out totally unprepared, drops the first half of the season, then learns to play by beating up on cupcakes mid season. We cannot go back to square one every damn season. And recruiting is still a black hole of nothing.

I don't know.

Rountree looked damn good today. Castillo and Simms have been good all year.

We really need some of these young defenders that are getting snaps to continue to develop.

Auburn and Georgia are just better than us.

We shite the bed vs Purdue and SC no doubt. We lost to a fairly comparable Kentucky team on the road, on the last play. It happens.

Definitely left a couple of wins on the table thought it appears.

Youre right. We simply MUST start better next year.

Y'all are going to beat us by at least 4 scores. Still, we'll always have our big come from behind win over Coastal Carolina.

You're wrong JQ.

To "lose a team", you have to have them first. And Odom never had this team until the UK game. Before that, Mizzou was "rudderless" and it showed. That's ALL on HCBO. WTF was he doing??? (OJT)

Good for Odom and the team on whippin' UF. This solid win makes-up for the SWMO Teachers game. I still have a "Purdue burr" in my buttocks. It could easily removed with three or more wins. Keep showin' me Odom...please.

Let's beat tenny so bad that they have no choice but to like it.

Sometimes, it just takes awhile for a new head coach, and his team to gel. It’s not that easy with all the defections, and terminations of players. Not to mention that all of the upperclassmen are not his players to begin with. When we’re playing 10-15 true freshmen and RS freshmen there’s going to be rough sledding along the way, and losses to teams we shouldn’t lose to. He’s only been a HC for 1 1/2 yrs.
I think we will continue to get better as time goes on, and by the time his 4 th year rolls around, I think we’ll see a more consistent football team, with trips to bowls each year. Then, maybe we can get some better recruits to take us to the next level.
It takes time for the upper class men to buy into a new coaches philosophy. Some never do. It also takes time for the HC and younger players to grasp what they’re doing. But I do think we’re turning the corner a bit. Well still have bumps in the road, but fewer and fewer as time goes on.

We are far from out of the woods.

We played a team that is basically us 5 or 6 weeks ago - rudderless and with no effort. They have plenty of talent so it was good to beat them like a drum.

But just so we’re clear, we are 0fer teams .500 or above. The combined record of the teams we’ve beaten is 12-23. None of them have won more than 3 games.

Luckily that’s the type of team left on our schedule. Vandy (4-5), Tenner (4-5) and Arky (4-5).

On a related note, we could possibly win 7 games and not beat a team that’s bowl eligible.

Barry Odom is off to a good start this second half of the season. Even some of the national commentators are saying they look like a different team compared to September.

I just hope it's not fools gold

The last 6 games of the season are literally against the worst teams imaginable.

Yeah, everyone talked about him finishing strong last year too. Time will tell. Bottom line is, he finishes strong and he'll get the chance to show he can start a season and not just finish one.

What I think is we could say the exact same thing NEXT YEAR!!!

I still believe he's too much of a micro-manager, doesn't lead, and let his coaches do their job.

At the start of the season, this team lacked fundamentals and energy. Now that is not the case. Will this happen again next September?

That may be true for the defensive coaches, but he definitely lets his offensive coaches do their thing.

I mean, ultimately we’re in the same place we were to start the season. Most figured the goal was to become bowl eligible. A lot of us had hoped for better than that. This season hasn’t played out the way we thought, but at seasons end if we are bowl eligible then improvement has happened. Yes, the schedule is weak, and yes the season started much worse than anybody wanted. That being said, win 6 and play a bowl And Barry has earned a third year. Perhaps he’ll have had enough OJT to take into year three and do better, perhaps not. I still want Barry to be successful at Mizzou because that would give great stability to the program. But, I still don’t want to just keep him around for mediocre success. At this point, all we can do as fans is see what happens and hope for the best

Excellent post. Odom still has a lot to prove, and it starts out at the beginning of yr 3. He had said befor this yr that he thought he had burned his guys out in camp during yr 1, so he tried a different approach. That didn't work either, but I don't see a guy who is at all unwilling to change. I see a guy who is learning. He doesn't have enough experience to be set in his ways, and I think he is still trying to figure out what his ways will be.

Assuming we finish the way we should, this yr hasn't bought him much in the way of security but he will have EARNED another chance. Hopefully, he'll get some support from the fans as well.
