Sunkett has been butthurt since Taylor and Strong both flamed out.

The greater STL area encompasses the St Clair and Madison counties of Illinois.

I’ve got a map.
He wasn’t referring to St Clair county. He was referring to St Louis MISSOURI
Any coach stumping for a particular college is a bad look, and what I’ve heard of Sunkett it wasn’t born from the idea that it’s the best opportunity for his kids.

Its easier to pay a coach off to steer players and keep it secret than paying each player hoping they never blab. Coaches in the south are notorious for this at some bigger schools. My hunch is sunkett is getting a new ride soon.

Not all programs filled with 4- and 5-stars are equal.
Alabama, Clemson, and Ohio State can bring in the best and push them to improve because they have 2 more 4- or 5-stars in the depth chart right behind them. If the recruit does not develop, they are shown to the transfer portal.
This also allows them to be more particular with the top recruits and chase only the best kids. Doesn't hurt quite as bad if they miss on one or two.
The second tier teams (Tenn., Mich., Fl. St., Auburn, etc.) put up big recruiting numbers on signing day, but don't have the same amount of wiggle room.
They can not compete regularly with the elites for the very top recruits. They do not have as many of the 4- to 5-stars to choose from, but are still expected to fill their recruiting class with them to appease the fanbase. They have to accept more of the highly rated recruits with flags (injury, character, work ethic, etc.) to keep their class rank up in the top 10, where the elite bluebloods can pass on the recruits with flags.
My point - Reality says MU is not an elite football school. I would rather the coaches stick with trying to win with high-percentage, high character 2- and 3-stars than a class full of passed-over, cast off 4- and 5- stars. I say that is the play with the higher percentage of success.
Pinkel started chasing stars a little more in his final few classes. We ended up with too many players more worried about grabbing their buzz in the parking lot on Sat. night than what happened on the field Sat., even though they had the precious 4- or 5-star rating when we signed them.

If Patterson wasn't on his staff, Smith isn't gaining any traction in STL. As I said in another thread, the fact that MU doesn't get to hammer them in the Dome the first week of the season only helps Lovie.
They are terrible in the trenches and will be for the foreseeable future. They allowed 56 TDs during conference play in year 3. That's with his guys and aside from gathering some 4* skill players, who have they landed that is going to make them not the worst defense in their conference? Sunkett likes what Lovie is doing? OK.

Who cares who Sunkett supports? I don't! Coach Reed at Lutheran North has come out and says that he supports coach Odom and Mizzou, because of their dedication now to put more emphasis on St. Louis. Good for him and Mizzou, but him or Sunkett will not push their players to Mizzou or Illinois.
Lovie is now putting a lot of attention on ESL who they have not had a good relationship with.(His job is on the line)

You are the first person to complain about the staff when a STL area player commits somewhere else, but you don't have an issue with a coach blatantly suggesting steering players to Illinois? Lol.

If you think he hasn't been steering kids away from MU since Greg Taylor left you are kidding yourself.
Carl Reed tweets about every college coach that comes into his office. He and Sunkett aren't cut from the same cloth.

Sunkett has had 1 Guy worth taking since Taylor flamed out.
He does have a couple players that will be worth recruiting over the next couple of classes.

Sunkett will talk to any kid that will listen to him.

You are totally correct on Sunkett not having any players worth taking until now. Somebody close to Illini sports said that Sunkett has not pushed against or for his players considering Mizzou or Illinois. Illinois just has worked out it's problems with the ESL football program.
The 2 players from ESL:
Antonio Johnson S

Well, since some unknown person said it.....Was this person able to see the preliminary end zone project drawings, too?

I don't have a problem naming that person....Maurice Scott(Mr. Illinois).

Lol. Somebody close to Illinois sports lied.

He would be a major recruiting win. That said, it's hard to be unhappy with the ID and development at that position since Ford took over.

Winner, winner. Preemptory blue ribbon for the ever popular nipping the oh so predictable recruiting disappointment in the bud with a preemptive accepting rationalization.

You might be entertaining if you were an alter with an iota of game knowledge.....but you aren't.
Name a RB recruited in the last 4 cycles that got primary reps and didn't out play their recruiting rank. Better yet name any primary skill player that hasn't out performed their recruiting ranking.
