I hear what you are saying about St Louis football players, this has been a long time problem. It's a shame KC doesn't produce more players than what we do because Mizzou is pretty successful recruiting over here.

Absolutely. Our best players in the modern era primarily have been non-St. Louisans.

Also, STL became fertile ground for the Big Ten when Mizzou was in the dark ages of the 1980's to mid 90's.

...and that's because we don't normally get the top players from St. Louis just like the 2019 and 2020 class. I will admit getting Jalani Williams for 2019 is a big get.
I read somewhere that the top players from KC is spurning Mizzou at a higher percentage than St. Louis. I read that somewhere last year.

Kansas City is producing far fewer P5 players than STL. Goodrich got 114 snaps for Clemson as a true FR and AJ Taylor is a stud in the slot for Sconnie. Both would be difference makers.
Graves won't hit the books hard enough but he would bolster the pass rush.
Carson took a RS at Texas. I'm not sure he is a great fit in Todd Orlando's defense. They had him put on 40 Lbs and moved him inside. I liked him @ 270 on the edge. Asking him to soak up blockers is a waste IMO.

Adrian Clayborn, Monte Ball, Jehu Chesson, Elliott, and Roderick Johnson were big misses in STL. Ronnie Perkins can probably added to that list.
Thompson, Trout, Brown, and Babb might prove to be once they get on the field.

Im always curious as to reasons why players choose where they went.
His mom wouldnt let him go to mizzou because of how mizzou handled Aaron o'neal
His dad wanted him to go to a challenging university.
Wanted the biggest stage possible(?)

Pinkel wouldn't put Stacy on staff because he never had a coaching position in his life. Elliott went to Columbus because Meyer made his dad a paid "recruiting ambassador". frick that. I'm glad GP stood his ground. That kind of precedent didn't need to be set.

Hiring a family member worked for Cuonzo with the Porters. If the Porters could have stayed healthy it would have been a really good team last year and average to above average team this year.

MPSr has been coaching his entire career. Stacy Elliott hasn't spent time on the sideline since he left college. Adding him to the coaching staff would have been a terrible decision.

Elliot wasn’t so much a miss though. He was a double legacy kid who’s parents wanted massive attention and that sweet sweet Urban $$$$.

My point was going back to the 2006 recruiting class that Clayborn was in, MU has missed on 6 difference makers from the STL metro area.
You add Maclin, Gabbert, Richardson and TBJ to that list and you have a metro area with 2.5 million people producing 10 difference makers in 14 recruiting cycles. That's underwhelming.

We reoffered Danny Gray. He was a commit in the 2018 cycle that didn’t qualify. He’s getting a lot of attention at JUCO

On the St Louis Post dispatch board we have been over and over this, the fact of the matter is Missouri has on an average about 7 Four-star players every year, maybe 10 that are three stars, (if you believe in the Stars game, I don't), The facts are Missourians will not pay more money in school taxes, thus the schools are to provide an education on the dime, and that money trickles down to athletics, then you have the fact that Baseball is the most popular sport in Missouri, and Football is in competition vs basketball, and soccer, then you have states like Georgia with 400 plus High school players many of whom are four stars guys and Texas where we have had great success.
Long story short for every player in Missouri that is playing hard to get, there is a player that is as good or better in Florida, Georgia, and Texas that want to come to us.
