In the event Mullen leaves. Normally wouldn't have started a thread like this, but after showing up completely unprepared for the last 3 egg bowls, I don't mind playing the what if game.

With the early signing period, it will be extremely important to get someone in place quickly. You have to think Cohen has targets already lined up in the event he has to pull the trigger and make a hire. Seems all the pieces are in place to attract a good offensive minded coach, But I could see us going defense though and going after a young offensive coordinator, maybe a Brian Johnson type assuming Mullen wouldn't go out and get him.

Last 3? Mullen won in a blowout last year.

I meant 3 of the last 4. 2014, 2015, an 2017.
I'm a big Mullen fan and hope we keep him, but I don't see giving him a raise ending the season like this. We played some pretty bad football in the month of November minus 3 plus quarters against Bama.

You’re a dumbass. Questioning the job Dan has done give me a break. You DO realize we just ran second team offense for four quarters and lost by three?

Frick off jackass. I'm saying he's the 14th highest paid coach now. That's fair compensation. What I think we do owe him right now is more money for assistants. To go over $5 mil after getting his but kicked in the egg bowl 3 of the last 4 years, no way.

State lost due to losing Fitz early in the 1st qtr. I don't know his percentage but I'm going to say that he accounts for at least 70 percent of offense.

Mullen isn't leaving. He may be looking for a raise. But he's got everything he could want at tMSU, I'd be more shocked than MSU fans if he left now.

Dude we spanked their arse this year but had 5 turnovers and a broken leg to our best offensive player. That isn't lack of preparation, it's shite luck and it happens. Happened to Bama against them a few years back too.

There are also medications to help with sleep

ETA: To answer the OP and help distract everyone from the Egg Bowl disaster... Frank Wilson would be a strong hire.

Get on the phone to Bill Clark at UAB asap imo.

If not him, then Norvell from Memphis would be good if Arkansas doesn't get him.

Why not Hudspeth?

He has taken ULL to a bowl 5 out of 6 years

First 3 calls are to Lane Kiffin, Mike Leach, Les Miles.

Next are Norvell, Matt Campbell, Jeremy Pruitt.

Then you get to Clark, Charlie Strong, Frank Wilson.

And if somehow all of that falls through call Sumlin.

I said in another post I don't believe there is any way Keenum approves Kiffin.

If there are issues with Norvell, again don't see Keenum approving him.

meh.

I don't get the Kiffin love as anything more than a comedy option. IF he worked out here, he's gonna bolt for a better job immediately. Ideally we could find someone to keep around and cement the success. It'd be tough, for sure, but Mullen gave us 9. If the next guy came in and was successful for 9 more years I don't think he'd wanna leave.

I dont care how long they are projected to stay. Anyone that we hire might leave after a year. Gotta hire someone that can sustain momentum. If they are gone in a few years, so be it.
