is this actually a result of poor defense or playing top offenses? I really dont know

GREAT QUESTION!!

Wouldn't you think that at least one of their DBS would have made the NCAA STATS(OSU LOVES STATS!) in passes defended or INTs considering they have more attempts to make those plays?

Idk. Maybe not if the passing offenses they are playing are really that good. How'd the rest of the Big12 rank in pass defense?

Haven't dome a check, but I don't think any teams besides Kansas State or TCU have favorable defenses statistically.

3 were top 50.

That's what I figured. So there's no way of really knowing whether or not it was poor defense or good offense.

Regardless it doesn't really matter. Oregon had nearly 500 yards of offense against auburn and still lost. Not that the 4 teams are comparable but you get my drift

I agree... Keep their offense off the field with our run game, and make a few critical stops.

I think you hit the nail on the head. If MSU has any chance it is by doing this. They will have to be run heavy with the RB's if Russell can't move the ball through the air or they will have to play Prescott to keep OSU guessing on RB/QB runs.

We need ball control, turnovers, and a decent defense. If we don't have any one of those then we lose.

I think we win by 14 or more. I think our d will dominate. To much mayhem for OSU! I think we will be back to how we were under diaz. With our experienced o line I think we run all over them too. Then our d gives us the ball back
But this is state so we could very well shoot ourself in the foot.

Didn't you lose your top 4 receivers from last year? Not that the guys coming in cant be as good or better I think it's kind of a stretch to assume its the best you've ever had.

Not really. Depends on how you really want to look at it.

MJ only had 10 catches, but he was also out for 5 games. He was on the Mackey watch list as a SO. Back on it again. I Don't equal less catches as being a lesser player. It was simply not being in the game.

ROJO.. 2 more catches and he would have been in the top 4.

Lewis.. As many as MJ, without playing in 4 games.

We use our RBs and Perkins was in the top 4.

But yes, we lost Bumphis, Smith, Clark, and Green.

Not really a stretch.

Other than Bumphis(Stud), we should honestly be better as a whole with WR's. Marcus Green was our TE, and he produced really well but he was our second option after our starter Malcolm Johnson got hurt and Green got a medical redshirt to play a fifth season.

Malcolm Johnson is back, and the other two receivers we lost managed to get us 3 TD's on 83 catches, while one of our backups from last year managed 2 TD's on 17 catches.

As a whole I think we'll be better all around, but I don't think we'll have anybody as good as Bumphis was last year.

I think that most of your fanbase outside of darkhorse is taking a wait and see approach to yall's WRs before making this bold proclamation.

Bumphis is shadowing the loss of Chris Smith. He had fricking hands. Russell has thrown to him on troubled third downs since they were both in the 10th grade.. No way he isn't missed.

I'll admit I was way off on Bumphis. I saw him play at Tupelo and didn't think he would be worth a shite in college.

In Mississippi all you do is run routes in HS.. Outside of a few schools, we have the simplest, run-happy HS football that exists I'm afraid.

Poor and dumb

Trust me I know. One time my coach my junior year ran the ball out of a two tight wishbone set on 3rd and 26. True story

Damn

We never passed.. I got frickin tired of WR and tried to swap to defense in the 10th grade, Coach wouldn't hear it so I quit IOT go to work to make money which it took to be in the top 10% of people who actually got pussy in high school.. Solid choice IMO
