Is the Veranda the most overrated restaurant in Starkville?

I do not understand why that place is packed on the weekends when the food is on part with Harveys.
I have been many times and have tried blue plate specials, sandwiches, steaks, chicken, etc and nothing I have are there was memorable whatsoever

It was better five years ago than it is now.
Rest Tyler/Guest Room, Bin, commodore bobs, and Anthony's in WP are all better imo

The Bin has really went down hill. My burgers the last few years have been burned and/or soaked with entirely too much grease.

This. Hucks is fricking legit.
Their crab meat topping for steaks is enormous.
They took away their tamale appetizer that was fricking delicious.
When I was stationed in Columbus the wife and I would eat there all the time.
J Broussards is good too.
I liked the Veranda, but I haven't eaten there in over 3 years. I never liked Harvey's.

No you don't, because the man that owns The Veranda has no daughters. We are very good friends with the Jones' and Frankie (the owners son) and I were good friends when we were at MSU. My fiancé and I are having our rehearsal dinner there this spring. I think you're thinking of Dan Camp, who owns a lot of the restaurants in the Cotton District.

Ate at Anthony's last night in West Point for the second time. I've only eaten at Restaraunt Tyler once and never at the veranda, but Anthony's is a good bit better than Tyler.

Probably, but people need to quit putting college town restaurant food on a pedestal with what they've experienced elsewhere. It's almost impossible to have a consistent product with the kind of turnover you have from working students. Short order type places are different. But running a restaurant is a huge challenge in a small place like Starkville, especially in the lean summer months.

My most disappointing Starkville meal was at Restaurant Tyler. I was told great things about it but there was over an hour 1/2 wait and the food was legitimately cold by the time I got it. The waitress could not have cared less about my table. Haven't been back since.

The owner had a couple restaurants in the Jackson area a long time ago that failed miserably. If I remember correctly one of them was called Portobellas.

Never have heard of it? Im guessing this is one of the hole in the wall places in the cotton district that has room for 20 people college students rave about

i remember a Portabellas in Columbus about 20 years ago. It was decent.

Portobella's in Byram? That place was pretty good from what I remember.
