Makes you wonder.

Even during the late 70’s before UF did anything in football or basketball I was a fan. We know the motto “wait till next year” all too well.

While I don't agree with OP statement, I kind of understand it even after the LSU game.

This team has been horrid on offense at times. During UF's losses, what White runs has been easily defended. 25 seconds of players standing around followed by a contested 3.

I remember feeling great about this team after the 2nd Butler game only to shite the bed against USC to start SEC play.

On the positive side, White gets his players to play hard and give effort on defense. White is also a great recruiter. Hopefully this team builds on the LSU win and UF makes some noise in March and April.

I’m not the basketball expert so I’ll ask the question here.

CMW seems to have the recruiting and defense going in the right direction. Does he need to learn the offensive side? What gives in your opinion?

I would not consider myself a basketball expert either but I know jacking up contested 3s multiple possessions in a row is bad offense.

Edit: I would defer to GatorsGators, he does know his shite.

The first 10 minutes of the LSU game was promising. The dribble-drive was working, but then they backed away from it when LSU went to a zone. You have to break the zone, and that is White's weakness. That's why having 3-point shooters is so important for this team and if they're not falling, we're in trouble. Add a big or 2 and we will be fine moving forward.

But this year, we just have to get hot and stay intense on defense and we can beat anyone.

This is 100% accurate. Zone has been MW Achilles heel all year. Nembhard coming along and attacking the basket is helping. A 5 that can play with his back to the basket and a stretch 4 along with Nembhard, Locke, and KJ next year would be awesome. I think we may finally have the pieces to run at least a watered down version of the DDO next year. This years team just doesn’t fit White’s offensive style at most positions, obviously that’s on MW but there is light at the end of the tunnel. Really excited to see the three freshman come back with next years class and a grad transfer big hopefully. I wouldn’t be surprised if Okauru moved on and we bring in a grad transfer guard as well.

I love it when people say you can't live and die by the 3 point shot. Why not? If the other team is giving you open 3 pointers you should live and die by them. You have to knock them down.

I like how hard the guys play, but we looked so terrible on offense earlier in the season I would have sworn we never practiced it. I think we just had a big learning curve to get past after our last 2 point guards who were seniors and now going with a true freshman running the show. Nembhard is a different animal altogether from Cheese and Hill.

It is nice when fans of the other team complain that you impose your style of play on them and not the other way around.

I know I am beating a dead horse about this, but Mike Okaru should get 10-15 minutes a game to keep our guards fresh.

Well, because statistically speaking, teams who live by the 3, die by the 3 don't make it all the way.

Hell, even in the NBA Golden State is the closest thing you could make an argument for on that end in all NBA history, and even they make an effort to not shoot 3s on every possession.

I think part of this is that Nembhard, as you pointed out, is completely different player from Hill and Chiozza. So part of it is White figuring out how everyone meshes with Nembhard's style of play. Part of it is also Nembhard learning hte college game. He took way too long, especially early in the season to initiate the offense. Now he is being more assertive, and the offense is starting to flow better.

The other part is the front court injuries, which are well documented at this point. Although, if Stokes could figure out the defensive end, he has got potential. His knee injury last year really slowed his growth.

I was only able to listen and check for updates during the game. At the half I was wondering WTF? got back into town and a tv with .45 seconds left. A pleasant surprise.

Way to play 2 halves.

3 for 15 from 3. That’ll do it. But we kept our head in it, played tough and preservered. (Coach speak)

Hudson with double figures again, which makes 4 out of the last 5 games.

Good for him. He keeps playing like that, and UF could make some noise in March.

Our biggest problem offensively is that we don't generate a lot of easy buckets near the basket, imo. You can do that multiple ways -- have guys who can score in the post, guys who can take their man off the dribble one-on-one, or generate them within your offense. But we haven't really been able to do any of those at all this season or last season for that matter, although Cheese was really good at pushing the ball in transition and getting an open look there. Check our 2P% numbers -- they've been near the worst in the conference the past two seasons, and a lot of that has to do with not having a DRob/Prather type forward who's automatic in close or a Wilbekin who can creatively go get you a floater in the lane.

We've been better the past few games. Today you saw a lot of double high posts where the weak-side high post guy would set a backscreen for a guard and we'd try to get them an open layup. It worked a few times today. It was good to see White draw up some schemes that got us some easy baskets, because that's been our biggest weakness. We'll usually shoot better than we did today; I hope Locke regains his form soon because we'll need it come postseason.

FWIW, Locke is hurt. He got hurt a few games ago, per rumormill, and he’s been struggling ever since.

He was something like 6-32 from 3 before today in his last few games, which is far off from his early and mid season shooting percentage.

Here's the deal.

Go cheer for coach Mac and Muschamp. Since you loved them more than UF. Delusional homers who see mediocrity and accept it and make excuses for poor coaching.

Don't worry. This team isn't making anything. Poor kids. Talent is there. The coach just isn't good enough. Same with Mac, Champ, and Zook.

It seems like every time I watch the team play they take a lot of bad shots . Our offense is horrible. It seems like our coaches only work with the players on defense.

Not really.

Some brackets had UF in as an 8 before today.

I think we're still in.
