with a stronger arm

Where are we getting this assumption? Nothing I saw yesterday suggested this as the one time he went deep to Singleton, it was very underthrown and the rest of his throws were short to intermediate routes.

Fair question. He throws a tighter spiral and with more zip than Philo, and he's better at involving his lower body better in his throwing motion. He doesn't throw off his back foot as much as Philo. In the postgame Jones said he kept overthrowing Singleton on that deep route in practice.

He definitely doesn't have a weaker arm, and on the short to intermediate throws he had good touch. He never threw a hot ball.

Jones is limited also.

It could be a product of a limited playbook for his first career start on the road at Texas.

Jones need to start only because the OL is so bad and we need a dual threat qb back there.

I was impressed with Jones game management, but it was his first start in a very hostile environment,

He missed some open receivers down field mainly Dallas Wilson 4 or 5 times and severely underthrew the long ball that the receiver was wide open on a good threw and its a touchdown , and also threw it into triple coverage in the end zone to Abrams i believe and luckily he got a hand on it to bat it down or it would have been intercepted,.

The defense for once this year bailed us out, because all day Texas had open receivers all day long, to our advantage the D - Line got pressure and manning could not sit back there and tare us apart,
It still burns me up on the long pass in the 4th quarter that these DB's still let receivers run right buy them knowing you don't have safety help, it has happened every game, unfortunately this is the worst defensive backfield Florida has had in a very long time and we are 7 games in so its not going to get better, just hope the defense as a whole has turned the corner and this is not a 1 off game

I would think if Philo is healthy he will start against Georgia, but Aubbie showed us Uga has problems with a mobile QB so hopefully Jones can get a few series as well

This! But he didnt fold and put us in a bad spot so that matters.

Same, Before that pass we had held Manning under 100 yards for the game.
This secondary isnt very good at all.

We wont know his full limits until we play UGA now that there is film out on him for Kirby n Co to break down.

I like Jones, btw.
If he starts going forward ill fully support it.
Im just not in the kneejerk stable of fans who are acting like he is the second coming after throwing for 155 yards on 35 passes.

You have been spot on with all your posts. I hope the fans don't turn on Jones, like they did Philo. because if the o-line goes back to blocking like it did in the MIzz, and gamecock games. Jones is going to have a bad day.

Im not saying anything bad against Jones, just pointing out what I saw that he missed, im sure in the film room he probably missed way more than what I pointed out and on the 3rd and seven to seal the game if he had just handed it to Baugh probably a TD because the hole baugh had to run through was huge and there was no safety deep it was all open field

Im happy for the win and the way this team battled through that rough first quarter and stayed with it,

Man so many receivers banged up definitely needed the bye week, hopefully Florida will be close to full strength for the cocktail party and see what Kirby has in store after they lost to Aubbie
Hopefully Aubbie kicks the crap out of LSWHO on Saturday

But this 9 game SEC schedule is not helping the conference at all its really taking a toll on every team in the conference, its almost as if you don't have a week off after a big win because the next team is wanting there big win, its almost impossible to get up for 3 or 4 weeks in a row and for sure a let down after a big loss will surely put you on the outside looking in, see BAMA!!!!! Plus I could name 6 other teams,
Look at BYU look who they play after a big win ,at home against Norte Dame , nobody!!!!!

Every SEC. Team may have at least 2 losses going into the SEC championship game
Which is point less now that there is a 12 team playoff
Sankey should consider doing away with the SEC championship game , now going to 24 teams,
Plus a 9 game SEC schedule plus with most teams in the conference playing 1 good out of conference team as well.

Its time to do away with the SEC Championship game

Guys , look at it this year this team won only 4 games last season…we already have 2 top 10 wins and look to be in contention for possible playoff.

We are playing way above anyone’s expectations.

You can be able to throw it 120 yards in the air and it doesn't matter if you decide to hit the checkdown every time, which is what Tramell does 95% of the time he throws a pass in the multiple games he has appeared in at this point.

IDK if its an issue where he doesn't want to throw a pick, if he panics and doesn't hit his reads, if he can't see downfield well, or what it is. It very well could just be inexperience. But either way it seems like something they are going to have to work with him on.

I watched the highlights last night and it looked like Woods got held on that play to me. Would have hit Arch right in the back right before or just as he was about to pass, could have caused a game sealing fumble.

Jones did a great job under the circumstances. I don't believe that automatically makes him the new starter. That decision should be made by the coaches, that's why they make the big bucks. Our job as fans it to support whoever is playing. Go Gators, beat the mutts.

Fans need to understand that you can like one without trashing the other.

Neither QB won or lost games on his own

Philo has thrown one pick that was on him, 1.
And ppl on X are acting like he’s a turnover machine.
Saw a guy say, Yeah Philo couldn’t make that 4th down throw. Took me literally a min to find the same throw, same distance by Philo. He never responded after I posted it lol

Its mostly the Tramell fans that feel that way. Most of the Philo fans, at least when the initial QB battle happened, were more just people who wanted the best player to win. I think a lot of fans wanted Tramell to win for..... extracurricular reasons.

The pocket awareness for Jones was a lot better. Scrambling and the QB run game added another element to the offense which was desperately needed. The offense under Philo got very predictable and stagnant. You could tell he's more comfortable just standing in the pocket and not wanting to move around so much.

It's Jones' job for the rest of the season. He will improve now that he'll get reps with the 1s

There's no controversy. Philo has a shoulder injury and Jones is the hot hand. It be stupid to have a competition during the bye week when Jones needs all the reps he can get.
