This feels like two more seasons before we start contending. I don’t mind as long as it’s built on a foundation for sustained success.

I am with you. Anything from 5-7 to 9-3 wouldn't really shock me. If the defense plays well and the o-line gels with all the new starters, we could play ball control offense and win some tight games potentially. I am not writing off any game except UGA preseason but am also definitely not predicting a NY6 bowl or anything crazy.

anything less than 8 wins this year is unacceptable

New starters across the board vs a top 5 toughest schedule in CFB this season.

New QB in new system
young receivers
2 returning OL starters
Mostly flipped defense with new LB and Safety starters.

Some of you need to accept reality and temper your expectations a little. Id say between 6-8 wins but we'll see a big improvement in several areas.

For me, 8 wins is tempering my expectations. We will be more talented than probably 9 of the teams we play, maybe 10. Do we have the right coach? Jury still out. I like Napier, I do expect progress.

3rd SOS in the Nation, talented yes but still an inexperienced team

Prepare to be disappointed if you think 8 games is a lock.

Hard to see 8 wins pre-bowl. It would take a QB slinging it for a lot of yards for that to happen probably. I hope the defense can go from like #100 last season to around #50 this season though.

I think the Defense will have its games where it looks dominant but there will be mental errors in the learning curve. Still much improved from last season.
I dont think ppl really get how our lack of depth and speed hurt us. Wont be an issue this season as this staff has done an outstanding job in flipping this unit as a whole.

Offensively I think we'll have a more consistent passing game thatll average around 250-300 yards but will have a few games where it shines vs teams we should be able to handle.

I'd love to see 8-9 wins ofcourse, but with questions along the OL and having a new QB and young receivers all learning on the fly along with a young Defense I think it'll be more around 6-8.
Hope I'm wrong

I am just not sold on Mertz. If he gives us an average of 250+ a game in our power 5 games I would be happy. One issue we have is Richardson gave us 265 total yards a game and we likely wont get much more from the RBs in these games than last season where we had good numbers there

Winning 7 games this year would be an achievement...

People don't realize how much of a rebuild this is.

We aren't simply "Florida" and just show up and beat people lol.

Those days are over.

Only thing I will say on that is LSU lost a lot of players prior to Kelly arriving and he has been pretty active in the portal. If LSU has a good season that puts pressure on Napier because a lot of that will be transfers and some of his 2nd year guys. People will not be happy with excuses come year 3. I cant think of any recent good championship level coach that didnt have at least 10 wins pre-bowl game by their 3rd full season unless I am forgetting someone. We havent had a coach not win at least 8 games in one of their first 2 seasons I think since maybe Doug Dickey in the early 70s.

I frankly don't give a shite what LSU does relative to UF's success this year.

UF needed to be completely rebuilt as a program - and for some reason most of our fanbase doesn't get that.

That means everything... the entire mindset around football as a program - administration, coaches, players, boosters, fan engagement... the whole thing.

We could go 6-6 again, hell even 5-7, and it won't change my opinion of Napier.

I dont care this season but imo its crazy to think someone is a good coach if they were to go 6-6/7-5 three straight seasons at UF and would be even worse in the portal era. We have the best talent in the country and our arch rival had a coach take over a struggling program and put them in the Championship game his 2nd season. 2 years is one thing a 3rd year would be not cutting it with another mediocre season.

Who has better talent than the state of Florida?

I don’t care about the talent in the state of Florida. Every team plucks talent from Florida.

How is the talent level on the Florida team right now?

It’s nowhere close to top talent, compared to other schools.

2 years doesn’t fix that.

Making excuses. The bottom line is any championship coach in modern history that turned out good had a good season in their first 3 full years no matter the state of the program. Heck I think even at UF you have to go back more than 50 years to find a coach that even failed to have 8 regular season wins in their first 2 years. Year 2 is one thing but you are not cut out for the job if you go 6-6/7-5 three straight seasons. That is saying UF is now KY in football. I hope he has a nice year 3 or even shocks us in year 2 but you have to show you can compete in the SEC and be able to go better than 50/50 in SEC play by year 3. Heck with the portal now there is even less of an excuse not to have things going much better in year 3.

To be fair, other than the Georgia game, we were competitive in every single game. We might’ve not looked so good in some of the games, but were very competitive vs Utah, LSU, Tenn, aTm, Scar, and FSU.

If any of the new guys are a step up from what we lost, we might shock some folks.

I'm not getting into the back and forth on wins and losses other than to say that UF does have the talent with good coaching, consistent play to win at least 8 games this year.
Improvement needs to be shown or the slide will continue. Big year for Napier to prove that he belongs.

We have talent with the good coaching...

CAN SOMEONE TELL ME WHERE THIS TALENT IS????

We are ranked either 11th or 12th in every preseason poll for a reason.

If you guys are expecting 8 wins, man... be prepared for disappointment.

I think Florida has the 3rd toughest schedule in the country next year.

This is a full rebuild - I do not understand why people don't get this.
