I do think 6-6 or even 7-5 is more likely but with my luck we would collapse some and go 5-7 if I bet that over/under.

It appears Amos chose Bama.

Frickin FSU just got Keon Coleman. He would have been perfect as a bridge to the young true freshman WRs. We are slacking so far in this portal window.

Our football program has to show these recruits/portal guys something, i.e wins on the field and/or a stud QB who can sling it. Only thing we have to sell right now is the future. These guys (especially portal players) want to win now. 2 seasons of 6-7 and an upcoming projection of 5-6 wins in 2023 is not all that enticing.

That is why Napier has to convince the big money people to get us a 1 year proven QB for 2024 so the true freshman QB can learn that season.

FIFY
Eugene and Jean are going to push for time early this season, just like at QB, noone is coming here without a guarantee that theyll start for the 1 yr they have left.
One QB everyone clamored for went to FAU or some shite like that where he walks in Day 1 as the starter.

lol.. I am sure the big schools would be after Zipperer because of his 1+ catch a game avg and because Coleman only had about 800 yards to Zipperer's 177 and torched teams like Michigan last season. Coleman combined with that 6'7" WR FSU has will be a strong combination. Not sure what FSU had to pay for him but it was a good amount I am sure.

Teams like FSU and LSU got more decent starter level players than us though from the portal.

Their leading receiver vs our worst secondary in recent memory was their running back.

1 catch for 6 yards vs OSU.

Hey, he might be good, but im not crying over him going elsewhere when there were plenty of games he didnt do much to excite anyone

FSU did not get better players than we did through the portal.
Banks and Jackson are better than any DL they got and probably 2 of the best DL in the portal.
Carroll is a monster
Goodwin and Mazzccua were 2 of the best OL in the portal.
Moten is likely a day 1 starter
Mitchell and Spurlock will be solid for us
Mertz is gonna start QB1.

LSU got some good corners but other than that their list isnt that impressive

I know it really hurts ya'll to give the staff credit, but dont look foolish in denying it.

Napier has done a good job recruiting and in the portal. Credit where credit is due. Now go win some football games! IMO, anything less than 8 wins this year is unacceptable and should warm up Napier's seat. Not wanting him fired, just make progress.

I agree I think the staff did a great job in the portal. I would have loved a bin name splash at qb but I will sit back and wait to see how Mertz and the rest of the new players perform before I get ready to get the pitchforks out

If Napier has 8 pre-bowl wins with Mertz I think he will be here long term. I also think the chance of that happening is like 10%. I wont be too mad with 6-6 or 7-5 but 5-7 would put some major pressure on him.

I believe 8 wins should be expected.

Utah is a 50/50 game with their QB possibly out
McNeese is a win
Tennessee is a 50/50 game, new QB too.
Charlotte is a win
We should be favored over Kentucky
Vandy should be a win
South Carolina is a toss up because of location
Georgia sux
UF will be favored over Arky and should win
At LSU will be tough
Missouri should be a win
The Gators won't loss to FSUcks 2 years in a row.

I hope you are right but Vegas has us big underdogs in many of those games. Utah will be very tough on the road if that QB is healthy by the beginning of their camp.

I don't know what to expect really.

The key to an improved season is vastly improved defensive play. Even if our qb play is underwhelming, I think we could get to about 8 wins with solid defense.

Got to 6 last year with terrible defense and inconsistent Jekyl and Hyde qb play.

If the kids on the roster are really buying into Napier's philosophy and doing the work, I think we'll see satisfactory improvement, regardless of what the official W-L column looks like (unless its a serious regression back to like 4 wins, of course, which would indicate that the players are not buying in or that Napier is in over his head).
