Quay Walker is, in my opinion, the most important target on our recruiting board. Really need him to visit.

Quay is visiting. No worries. Sunseri should be pushed on him hard core. Even if Robinson is the coach Sunseri can recruit like a boss.

Still reported he was planning on visiting 02/02.

Really think we get him. Maybe it's homerism but I feel really good about Watkins, Jefferson, and Copeland. Others not as sure. Bush is possible but if we land Watkins and Copeland it's not likely. I was hoping LSU's terrible hire would help us get a few of the guys we are battling them for.

I think Copeland heads to Bama. Shannon Terry and bud Elliott CB'd him to Bama

You don't insult the fan base of a team that you're thinking about going to -- he's done at Florida.
''I don’t care about no 'FAN' love. It ain’t paying my mama bills and it ain’t helping me survive. Say what ya want I’m gone do me!''
I definitely don't want Copeland on the team at this point, I think he's going to be a problem off field. The good news is I think we're in extremely good standing with Justin Watkins.
We're also officially out for Quay Walker.
That's a big hit, but I don't think it's that big if the suspended LBs are coming back. Apparently, Scarlett came back fricking j-j-j-jacked. Hopefully, the majority of them were not on the same S&C as the rest of the team.
However, the projected depth chart has CeCe Jefferson and Zuñiga as OLBs with Reese and Joseph as ILB. That would be a really, really solid LB corps but we need their backups to be above average/pretty good.
Gonna be a fun NSD.

CECE should be the DE and add some pounds. Would like Polite as OLB over CeCe
Posted on 1/15/18 at 9:31 pm to Gatorbait2008
The OLB on strong side is really a DE...3-4 just is another way to rename positions in some cases, still two DTs, a DE and then LB/DEs. CeCe isn't going to cover TEs/RBs often, that's for sure.
The objective remains the same...stop the run game and pressure QBs.

I think Clayton and Zuniga outside with Polite and CeCe inside at DE would be a pretty good way to go as well. CeCe and Polite are a bit bigger to eat up blocks more. You have to double Jefferson I think. Especially now that he will have a better S&C program.

We got a commit from longsnapper Marco Ortiz
Posted on 1/17/18 at 7:19 am to TJGator1215
Bama 247 site saying he’s no longer visiting them this weekend, will visit Georgia instead. This puts Florida back in play for final OV after Grantham in-home visit.

If you're talking about Quay Walker, our own 247 said we're done with him. I'm hoping it's not the case, but I think it's time to move on from him.
For Marco Ortiz:
quote:
The Gators current starting long snapper, Ryan Farr, is heading into his senior season for UF with 38 straight starts to his name. Ortiz is currently unrated by 247Sports as a long snapper, but Rubio Long Snapping gives Ortiz a 5-star rating in his field. Ortiz picked the Gators over his other preferred walk on offer from West Virginia.

No one cares about the long snapper.
Til it cost them a game. Good pick up.

Peters is still visiting as well as Gooden or Jefferson. None can get into UF right now. OL looks good. It doesn't look good for Copeland. Imo he's Bama bound. Watkins and Boykin will be good corners. Tannor and Johnson at DE-LB
My guess:
We sign
OL-Gouraige
DE/LB-johnson
DE/LB-Tannor
DB/WR-Watkins
DB-Boykin
If they qualify:
DT: Jefferson
DT: Gooden
LB: Peters
Take a flyer on a low level LB and WR.

Every year dozens and dozens of high school players in Florida that are undervalued sign with out of state schools and turn out to be gems. I don't give a crap about stars, I want players who want to be Gators and will play better than what a height/weight/speed chart shows.
To fill out our class we should look long and hard for the kids other schools want and recognize. Sure we want top flight players...but an awful lot of great players were rated 3 stars.
There is no 100% formula to predict how players will develop. We ourselves have had monster OL who had two star brains and stole scooters and knuckle heads who didn't know their azz from a hole in the ground. The damn NFL misses many times on draft choices. They over value and undervalue a lot.
Not going to gnash my teeth worrying. Things will either work out or they don't. The proof will be several years from now as to how well we recruited. These are kids from various backgrounds and aren't men yet. The good ones want to be coached up and are positive in the locker room.

Copeland has given zero indication of where he’s going. Unless you’re reading into his twitter page, which is dumb.

One name comes to mind, Kerwin Bell
There are multiple other examples, i'm just too lazy to think about it.

Toney and Malik Davis, man. 3* prospects with little attention who came in and had impacts immediately. Unfortunately, with no meaningful backups and a poor S&C program they couldn't stay healthy.
Davis was wellll on his way to a 1,000 yard year as a freshman 3*.

Talkin' shite about one of the schools' fans is a pretty good indication of how little he cares about the school. Maybe he's just loving the recruiting process, but a lot of Gator fans across the board have pretty much fallen out with Copeland.
