re: Why devolve in to petty drama when we have a real bonafide mystery on our board?

As far as this being a hoax.
1. His email address, Bbaccene@mail.com, has never been pwned (compromised in a major leak). This is pretty uncommon for a regularly used and established email account, and equally uncommon for a throwaway that someone might use for shady websites or one-off correspondences so he probably created a throwaway just for this one thing. Not a big deal to do that unless you view it with the other evidence.
2. He has ghosted, and hasn't posted since February.
3. He pestered me, and IBG, multiple times with threads on the OTB trying to get us to join his contest. Most of these were deleted by the admins but some can still be found. LINK
4. This odd rule he had seems to target one, maybe two posters:
5. He knew who Chicken was within a month of joining the website. LINK He also knew what "alters" were.
6. Almost six months on now, CNB still hasn't received the ring, or at least he hasn't told us that he has.
So my theory. This guy was targeting IBG and myself in a doxing attempt. Theories as to who:
- CLEMSON FAN:
Reasons for - is Clemson fan
Reasons against - Neither of us go very hard on the Clemson hate. Sure, we don't like them, but if we're making a list of the most vocal anti-Clemson folks here IBG and I are toward the bottom of the list.
- CNB:
Reasons for - He's a known dastardly snake and villain.
Reasons against - This would require some amount of work. CNB is notoriously lazy.
- COCKYTALK USERS:
Reasons for - Both IBG and I have had some public issues with CT. IBG has been banned multiple times and I've gone hard against them here. They could be mad.
Reasons against - The contest was almost six months after our big anti-CT blowup and CT users are well known retards so probably not something they could mastermind.
- I BLEED GARNET or KSG:
Reasons for - We both like funny jokes like this and speaking personally, this would definitely be something I would think of doing.
Reasons against - I don't commit to alters very long, especially not 800 posts. Not saying I've had alters, but hypothetically if I did...also, I swear I didn't do this. I'm also pretty sure IBG didn't do it.
So my investigation is stuck but I can establish the following:
1. TheUSC was someone's alter. That someone is probably a regular on this website.
2. The suspect had something against IBG and me, or we're friendly and this was a joke...but in some way this person was very aware of who we are and was fixated on us.

I personally have always found S-10s funny, and the everclear thing was taken from a life experience, not the DUI but yea. I also did get pulled over for speeding once near Aiken driving to a game and the Trooper let me off with a warning.
It was sort of inspired by real events.

But yeah, to your post above that followed this one I actually exchanged emails with the guy to sort of feel him out and I think the last one I got from him was the one that sorta gave me pause .... because it read like a genuine stall tactic maybe, or someone who was taking it easy on me because I’m older or something. It was respectful.
He knew something about making jewelry and, in fact, at the time there was this relatively new thing where a lot of rings were being made out of coins through.a punch and hammer process. But that not what this guy was claiming he was going to do.
He was going to melt and cast this ring.
So here’s the next thing that threw me a curve.
He claimed the coin was salvaged from a wreck and this is where it got a little weird.
Back in the early 90s my dad (a master diver) and I, along with a couple of other divers, one a well know wreck diver, had found some coins and had rings made from some of them to commemorate the find. This was while I was living in Charleston with my first wife and girls and it was post-Hugo when a lot of wrecks had been uncovered. We were actually looking for the real Governor, because another ship had been misidentified as the Governor, and we had stumbled on another small wreck with some purse coins.
The whole ring thing my Dad had done intrigued me so it led me to Jupiter, FL a few years later after I was injured in a bad fall, to take a six week course on ring making because I wanted to make a ring to sell to my fellow special forces, ranger, paratrooper troops .... which I did, in ‘96 which was the same year I got into the Internet business.
Small operations always go lost wax casting but this guy told me he was going to do a centrifugal pour which told me he knew what he was doing although, when I questioned him anoint smelting the silver I think it was ... he kind of ignored the question and threw me off in the email so that did raise doubts but basically I am a very trusting person, especially when it comes to fellow Gamecocks. (Although I’ve been burned before so I don’t know why.)
Anyways, I trusted the guy and I was wrong, no doubt about it.
My Son is home from college for a few days so he is going to take a look at some header and see if he can do something with it although I honestly don’t think the guy was being malicious or trying to do harm .... maybe he was just having so,e fun at our expense.
It was just so elaborate.
I feel like such a sucker.

Whats sad is I've stood up for quite a few of you yet no one has come to my defense and said I didn't do this.

I'm extremely disappointed in everyone. I will admit this has hurt me deeply.

I'm just happy my cynicism wasn't for nothing. I've probably missed out on great deals because of it, but if it's too good to be true, it often is. I work in the IS field and do a lot of work with cyber security. If you want a second set of eyes to look at things or your son doesn't have time, let me know.

Really letting the guy that pulled this off know how bad it got to you. Months latter and we are having an fbi investigation.

There has been 1 poster that has continued to keep this alive. Now why would just 1 poster be doing this seeing as how he never gave his score. Only 1 reason why and you don't need to be Sherlock Holmes to see it. That same poster is also the nortorious dv'er by the way.

the 'Gamecock Board' Applied Science Lab Staff is also looking at the float tank the our members use for recovery on a regular basis. That tank has 1,200 pounds of Epsom salt in it and is used often, according to a presentation by the lab’s personnel back in November.

A dv'er is someone who constantly gives the cool kids around here red arrows instead of green arrows. SOS has been going on for months about it and takes offense to his amazing posts having red arrows beside them. He quoted my post where I was offering an assist to Rooster if needed. I guess because I offered help to Rooster, but went on a rant. I don't know if that means he thinks I'm the one who's giving him down votes, or if he thinks it's KSG or IBG. Regardless, I dgas, whatever, it's the weekend.
