News from this morning says a tentative deal has been reached and we might hear the news in 24-48 hours.

Does Tony over there strike you as being completely in the tank for Elliot?

IDK, he seems to just always say what he thinks. There have been times he praised Elliott and there have been times he didn't.

Fingers still crossed.
So...let's play a game. Assuming that SmElliott gets the job and hits the road, who should be in our top 5 list to replace him?

I'd feel comfortable making a push to go after these guys:
John Peterson - Pitt. Might be highly sought after, but he's gotta be the number one target.
Allen Mogridge - Ga Southern. Has primarily worked at smaller schools, but has been successful everywhere for the most part. He's also familiar with North Carolina/Tennessee area.
Shawn Clark - App State. How funny would it be to replace one App State Shawn with another App State Shawn, but App State has a great O line, and his units don't give up sacks.
If Elliott were to leave though, I'd have to imagine Muschamp will probably first tap Tim Davis, former UF OL coach. Wouldn't be thrilled about it, but that just seems like Muschamp's M.O.

While he may be highly sought after, you have to remember that we are currently paying the 2nd highest paid OL coach in the SEC. $$ should not be the reason we lose out on someone.

Now back to this question. I'll have to look around to see who fits this description.
I want a younger coach who fits the mold of our current staff. Great recruiter, chip on his shoulder a bit with something to prove. I don't want a nice guy. He doesn't have to be a dick but he needs to be as mean and intense as our OL should be.

Agreed, we have the budget to swing for the fences.

We absolutely should be able to land land him if he's just looking for the pay increase. There's no point in not trying.
Midwest guys like to stay in the Midwest, though. Some view recruiting the Southeast as too much of a culture change. Just my thoughts.
