You may not be one of them, but there are definitely grown men who throw this shite around hoping to get him fired. Its called politics.
Sorry I was fricking with you about it, i just think its possible someone is feeding who incorrect stuff. Maybe they dont know its not true, maybe half it is, idk.
Either way, the shite I heard from this issue ending up being 100% correct, and I can only trust what I hear that ends up correct. So I'll keep believing my guy and bringing what I know.
I appreciate you bringing what you hear, it's up to us to believe whats true and whats not based on past credibility.

Those aren't grown men, those are soy boy cucks or women.
Probably have mostly plant based diets and doen't eat red meat. Most likely gain their protein from Tofu and Eggs and drink soy/almond milk.
Cmon SECUSC get it right here.

So which one of those teams does Tanner coach? You do know he had had other sports achieve at the highest level or is he just the ad over losing sports?

I agree 100% with your post. I think it's f'd up that they would be sowing seeds of discord using a loyal fan like rooster to do so. Emotion aside your info was legit.

Oh ... okay. lulz
Show us the post where you said Akron before the A&M game. Did I miss it somewhere?

Why can't this just be dropped. Why is it that grown men have to be right even if the facts out there say otherwise? He never said akron he said there would be a 12th game and he was correct. Let's move on.

.1 mil less than what we were supposed to pay Marshall!
Pretty damn good for them considering what Nebraska was going to pay them.
what did we pay UTC?

Vs having to refund the Marshall tickets without a makeup game?
Yes, but not just that.
Marshall wanted a make up game but they wanted us to ride out their season first to see if they made their championship game and we were never going to do that, rightfully so.
In the meantime we were only concerned with bowl pecking order. A make up game would not help us with that had we beaten A&M. The loss caused us to have to scramble because the season started to fall apart after that one in terms of expectations.
(I contended that the Kentucky loss hurt us worse but that's neither here nor there.)
It was the loss to A&M that forced us to absolutely need the 12th game. At that point it went back to posturing for bowl pecking order and carefully choosing a 12th opponent out of the available teams who also needed a 12th game.
Then the question arose about whether or not we would travel to make it happen for a closer, better, opponent. One or two of our major recruiting areas were a possibility and it was later argued, among the powers that be, that their dumbass decision to refund Marshall tickets would facilitate this.
That was not viewed as a viable excuse by most big boosters and several Board members ... who are all good businessmen and who knew this had been handled poorly.
Waddell steps in and saves the day with his Akron option and we know that word didn't get out until Waddell mentioned it in Scotty's diner car after the A&M loss. It got picked-up through the grapevine by one of the sites and then it became news.
Until that day, until that very day, the AD's official stance was there was not going to be a 12th game.
NC State was the first choice because of Tanner's contacts there. But NC State wanted us to come to their place and they were not willing to pay ... plus, they probably feared taking the loss and they needed that win even more than we began to at the time.
By this time though everyone else were already doing 12th game deals. So now we were between a rock and a hard place to find a suitable opponent.
Waddell saved us with Akron. Akron had beaten a B1G team and they are not considered a gimme ... but they demanded a million+ bucks and we're able to get it given our situation.
Marshall was also getting a million+ bucks.
The major losses are going to be in ticket revenue, refund logistics, concessions losses and ... then comes the hit the local economy is going to take although Akron is pushing a winter/SEC getaway promotion for their fans hoping they will travel well down here. So far it is not looking good.
Had we always planned to play a 12th game we would not have offered an immediate refund. We would not have wasted the Marshall tickets and we would not have had to print new tickets. We would not have had to deal with the refund issues, the calls through the Gamecock Club, the seating issues, the delema of seat appropriation, the irate fans, etc.
We're also getting less TV money, or so I've been told although it is subjective because it goes in the conference kitty regardless.
In Tanner's defense he says, (second hand info here) that he and Charlie Bloom went went through the SEC offices and were guided in their decisions by the SEC offices ... but that the final decision was theirs (Tanner's guided by Bloom guided by BHam.)
Doesn't really matter now, but in the end it was not handled well and everyone that matters knows it. As CNB posted earlier ... live and learn. Tanner is gaining valuable OJT experience every day but ... but, this wasn't our first cancelled game rodeo so take it fwiw.

Very nice. Tanner gets the 12th game, just like he said he would, and for a cheaper price. That's positive negotiations right there.

The problem is the AD never had an " official stance" of no 12th game that is documented in speech or print. Other people on differents forums were saying the whole time there was going to be a 12th game period.I guess the issue with being an insider is you get info that others never get to hear and therefore no real evidence that you can show wuthout throwing your sorces under the bus.

Fans were saying, $surely there will be a 12th game, right?"
AD office was saying, "there are no plans for a 12th game" as of Friday before the A&M game.
AD office had to scramble when the calls started coming in Saturday evening and Sunday morning ... and especially when Tanner started getting calls Sunday night. And he got a lot of calls Sunday.
That's the difference. That's why the chronological timeline is important here. That and the logistical issues caused by some of the decisions that were made along with the PR issues with the fans.
Let's put this another way.
I get eight season tickets per year through my Club membership. A lot or our friends get six to eight a year every year ON TOP of our membership dues.
That's a lot of money we commit to the program every year not to mention other donations we make through the Guardian Society and other Gamecock Club requests.
We sit in the same seats, every season, every game. Sometimes we get calls from Jeff asking if we have leftover seats that we might be willing to contribute to the cause for VIPs or whatever. Favors stuff. Sometimes we have them and we give them willingly, with a smile.
Sometimes I gave them to friends, invite people from out of town, give them to Foster families, give them to worthy causes for fund raisers ... but they are my fricking tickets.
I'm easy. I've even given tickets to members here.
But you've got a lot of season ticket holders who are particular about who is farting on their seat cushions. You've got a lot of season ticket holders who expect to sit in club, or lower level between the 40s, or next to the season ticket holders they've been sitting beside for the past twenty years ... and that is, potentially, being disrupted right now.
That's your major PR issue.
The money, it's a loser. Will we actually lose money on this game? Who knows. Probably not because it's a home game and there are no travel expenses. But there are still hotel expenses and security expenses and ticket printing expenses and fees to be paid to the online credit card people and Ticketmaster people and at the ticket office come game time. It adds up. Right now there is talk of limited concessions, which is why they are hoping to pack the lower bowl first.
Those are just a sampling of the logistical issues.
In the end, or as mUSChamp likes to say, at the end of the day a 12th game is being played.
And I'll address this one last time. Anyone claiming that I am trying to undermine Ray Tanner is just full of shite. I've been a fan of his since he first arrived, was one of the first people to meet him, was helpful to Mike when he went after Ray and I would venture a guess that I was one f the first to know we we're going to get Ray when Mike got back from Knoxville.
I'm a businessman (albeit retired) and I rarely share everything I know, especially not on an open forum. Yet, I'm also a big, huge, Gamecock fan and supporter. Sometimes when the next rumblings grow loud on something important I might strategically place something out here knowing full well that certain people in the press read this board to force the conversation to get started.
It blew up with the media after that Friday before the A&M game and it forced some hands. That's wha was needed and sometimes Ray needs to be pushed a little harder to be a better AD. I really like the guy. I do not want to see him ousted IF he brings the program up. He did great with baseball. Can he do it with all sports? Because THAT'S what good ADs do.

I can understand the PR issue. The game itself is just part of the day for a home game. It's also a social event, seeing friends that we have made only through going to games and only seeing them on the Saturdays of a home game.. We look forward to doing the same thing and being around the same people so upsetting that is/will going to piss people off. Humans don't like change especially when it's thrust upon them.

Refunding Marshall tickets tells the whole story. I'll leave it at that. Anyone who knows anything about how that went down and the decision to refund, rather than replace, Marshall tickets ... well, it tells the whole story.
Speculation on message boards means doodly squat. I learned that long ago. Fact was, and it has now been proven by the decision to refund ... had we beaten A&M there was no real need for a 12th game.
Losing to Kentucky, A&M and UF hurt. All three were winnable games, but the A&M game was the biggie after the Kentucky loss.

But in this case that is.
