unless nothing changes, this hire more than likely gives muschamp 2 more seasons.

from what im hearing that bobo thinks we had a defense that shouldve won us 3 more games at least if we had an offense to match.

lets see those three extra wins next year please.

We are THE premier school and program in the state of South Carolina

And none of that means a damn thing if you live in this state. I live next to Clemson people and go to church with them. My mother's family are all Clemson people. It absolutely sucks to be a Gamecock fan right now. If winning the Palmetto Series is enough for our fans to be satisfied, we deserve to get our arse kicked in football every year by Clemson.

So you agree with this format?

Absolutely. Why should a legislative body select all of our BOT members? Our BOT selection process is a political appointment, plain and simple. I live in the 15th Judicial Circuit and our BOT member went to Sewanee, not USC. Why in the hell is he on our BOT? And why should folks in Seneca or Anderson have as much say in running the university than people in the Midlands where the bulk of Gamecock alums live and work?

Having outgoing members decide their replacement is just as, if not more political.

I’d agree we shouldn’t have spots for certain districts, but that’s the price of being THE state school of South Carolina, and we should have term limits

I disagree. All of our BOT members are subject to reappointment by the General Assembly. This makes them beholden to the interests of legislators who more than likely don't have the best interest of the university. In judicial districts that are heavily Clemson, you have BOT members that are beholden to politicians who despise this university. If trustees got to hand select them, you eliminate that dependency.

I doubt anyone here thinks winning the Palmetto Series is enough but you took the comment about the series way out of context. We win the Series every year because our overall Athletic department is better than clempson...that is a fact. Thinking clempson is better than us because of football is an opinion not based off the overall performance but based off of personal preference.

With this mentality, why even bother canning Ray? Our athletic department is doing great! Seriously, 90% of the fans of each school care about one thing: football. It's what pays the bills for all those non-revenue sports in which we excel. And right now, we're a football program that lost to UNC, App State, Mizzou and UT this year. We are a laughingstock to our arch rival. But hey, how bout women's volleyball and soccer, amirite?

I personally think the buyout for Muschamp is reason enough to remove Tanner as AD but the context of the Palmetto Series and the overall performance of our athletic department comments were based off a " our athletic department is crumbling " comment. You're twisting the response.

This board isn't a microcosm of our fanbase. Most of us here are alums. Many of us here don't live in SC. But for most Gamecock fans who live in this state, it feels like the athletic department is crumbling, because we haven't beaten Clemson in football since 2013 and have been blown out every year save 2015. Living in Conway, it feels like our athletic department is crumbling, because our fans are vanishing. 6 years ago, this area was 75-25 Gamecock. Nowadays it feels 50-50, and somedays it's even worse. I can't imagine what it's like north and west of Newberry. Football runs this state, and every year that goes by where we aren't competitive with Clemson, we lose future fans, future students and future revenue.

They don't get it man, no reason to keep explaining it again and again. They're just peasant minded and don't look ahead let alone grasp a revenue funnel. With or without Bobo, we're f00ked. And no one gives a rats arse about women's shuttlecock doing well.

Some people like all Gamecock sports. I know I do even though when I swam for Carolina we didn't have fans lol. Funny how you say no one cares yet the women's basketball team has led the nation in attendance for a few years now.

If you can't celebrate a Gamecock victory in any sport then you're not a real Gamecock.

if women's basketball wasn't good no one would show up or be "diehard fans"
Its the only sport we got so our fanbase is frontrunning onto it.

It's a sport with that moves the needle very little in the country, and brings 0 conversation outside of the fanbase that would stop showing up once the team starts losing.

Ya the SEC network is nice bc you do get to catch the other sports here and there...however I was on the track team at USC and still care very little on their performance in comparison to the big 3 sports. Also - do you successfully use the palmetto cup to argue with your Clemson “friends”? I don’t tend to win those arguments...

I’m from NC and Even though my dad was a gamecock i don’t have many Clemson family members or friends (i have one Clemson alum friend)
We basically just use football.
Basketball to an extent but all shite talking is football
