I agree that we expect less as fans...and...we recruit 8th or 9th in the SEC rankings most times and have to face clemsux...We won't contend for a national championship in my lifetime unless we cheat like hell...

This is not even close to being the most depressing days. We ripped down goal post and stormed the damn field after beating New Mexico State for gods sake. Damn get a grip people. Did no one bother to follow the two high school all star games? We had 3 incoming recruits that showed to be 3 of the best in the nation according to the scouts at all the practices. Lay down in the depths of sorrow if you must.

Na normally don't. I reserve judgment till they make an impact their freshman year.

Clemson just won their 2nd title in 3 years.

I don't give a shite what anyone does but us. Even in the darkest of night there is hope.

I agree.
But right now spirits are very low as a football fan.

Why would you be depressed? You clearly said, before the season, that you expected us to win 7 games. This years team met your expectations so they didn't let you down. We are also bringing in quality depth, which we desperately need.

I agree.

But our rival winning a national title lowers the spirits.
sorry if you don't agree.

It shouldn't lower spirits it should piss us off to do better.

Should we sit about bemoaning our failure or get off our arse and work harder to achieve success?

I mean, WE don't do anything. I'm talking about fans not the program. The program should never sit and bemoan about our failure.
We are a bunch of fans and alums on a message board. It doesn't and shouldn't correlate to what the team does.

If Will Muschamp is taking on the attitude what fans are feeling right now, well then he isn't the right coach here.

Not like I'm going to go hit the road and recruit some 5 star WR outta Charlotte. I'm a mid 20s investment banker, I'm going to pull for my team say my shite and then go about my normal day.

Our two biggest rivals are now perennnial contenders for the national title, while we lay a goose egg in a bowl game against UVA. There was at least hope in 1998 and 1999, because Clemson went 3-8 in 1998 and 6-5 in 1999 while UGA was mediocre with Jim Donnan. Even though we had lost 21 straight, beating one or both seemed realistic, which it was, seeing as how we went 3-1 against them the next two years. Right now, the gap between us and our rivals is as big as it's ever been, even if we're winning more games than we were in the Sparky Woods or Brad Scott era.

I guess I meant life events that you control. If you were a coach/player, it would be more of a milestone.

With that being said, I’d put a national title in my top 25 events, but I don’t know how high it would be compared to the said events before.

I’d put graduating from USC above it, too. I take pride in that.

We, as fans, most definitely can help the program through perception. Fans can also volunteer services and donate finances to help the program. Fans can also effect change by supporting or not supporting issues and show how we feel by our actions as in attending games or financial support.

So perception IS reality?

Now what if some don't agree with the route they are taking and decide to take away finances?

I agree with that but thats the most we can do.

This team will be built off recruiting. We can't help there. (well we can only hurt by being complete dickheads and gnats to recruits on twitter)

Coach and his staff need to go out and get better players. We don't do that.

I didn't think he was that bad.

There's definitely bad Clemson fans on the rant, he seemed pretty level headed.

As a boomer, I think thats what you call me, I just want to let the youth know that life sucks and you are leaving the years of " fun". Good luck!

I must be doing something wrong then.

Meh I’m not depressed at all actually. It wasn’t too many years ago that Clemson went 6-7. Now they are elite. A lot can change in a few years

"So perception IS reality? "

In life it most definitely can be. One's "Truth" lies in their perception of the facts.
