There are a lot of great players in NCAA and the SEC this year.

However, sometimes the accolades and actual accomplishments don't always warrant the hype.

Who is the MOST overhyped player the Gamecocks will play against this season, in your opinion?

Sammy Watkins

That's a name I wouldn't have thought about at first, until you mentioned it and I looked up the stats.

He had 2 big games last year, against Wake Forest and NC State, the other games he had around 4-6 catches for around 50 yards. He didn't have a lot of TD's either. When he played his 2 toughest teams, (FSU and USC) he only had around 40 yards.

Now I knew Murray was going to be on this list, he's only been responsible for a TD in 1 of the past 3 games we've played against them.

Boyd has taken over Watkins as being more over-hyped.

Boyd and Murray are very similar in that they have been fortunate enough to take advantage of their easy schedules to pad their stats.

we see how they fare when they play real competition.

Driskel is a good name to have on that list. I've seen a couple SEC QB rankings that have him above Shaw.

I think he's totally cereal. Our QB put up more rushing yards with a bum leg last year than these two combined.

Give Spurrier and Clowney and Sutton and Ingram credit where it's due.... they've owned Murray.

But Murray will have many all-time records when the year is done.

Gurley led the SEC in rushing as a running back, as a true freshman. More yards than Lacy, yeldon.

Marshall had the highest yards per carry of all running backs in the SEC last year.

You can't call any of them overhyped.

UGA's offensive line, you can call overhyped. All five starters are returning, so in a sound-byte that sounds awesome, and as a UGA fan it's better than having a rebuilding year on the OL, but that might be overhyped.

But for the sake of your own credibility, don't shitcan Murray (even though your team has personally shitcanned him, which you should be proud of) and for the love of god, don't say the SEC's #1 running back last year is overhyped.

meh, he didn't even break 40 yards against us. Out of all the teams he faced, we're entitled to say whatever we want about him as a RB.

Well considering gurshall had like 70 total yards last year against us I will continue to say they are overhyped. Was saying it before we played last year.

I didn't list Murray because he doesnt get a lot of hype. Gurshall on the other hand has received a ton of hype for racking up numbers against the bottom dwellers of the SEC.

And I should have out driskel instead of renner in my original list

South Carolina fans dont follow what goes on around the SEC only what happens to them and their opponents. It allows them to make ridiculous statements like this thread is littered with.

Uhhh, we play against 8 of the other 13 SEC opponents every year...used to be 8 of the other 11. How can we follow what happens to our opponents but not what happens to the other SEC members, who are our opponents every year??
