That wasn’t the case Sunday, when Swinney went off the rails, speaking directly to fans and media who specifically might have felt like Clemson’s 21-point win against the Gamecocks resembled a loss. The Clemson coach threatened to leave the program if it ever got to the point where winning by even just one point wasn’t enough and he laid into anyone and everyone whose thought process he disagreed with on this particular matter.

“I just want to win by one more point. If that ever gets to where that’s not enough, then it’s time for me to move on somewhere else."

“You people who suggest it felt like a loss, y’all need to check yourself, too.

Clemson keeps winning, but where are the students during games?

The Clemson student section on the Hill at Death Valley was less than half full as the fourth quarter started with the score tied on Sept. 23, 2017, against Boston College.

“We need our students to be there the whole game. And we need our fans to be there in the third quarter,” Swinney said on his weekly teleconference ahead of last weekend’s Wake Forest game. “We need to show up, and not be a place that shows up (just) for GameDay or night games."

how fitting for those orangenecks - they've always been a half-arse fan base that only shows up for the cameras. looks like Carolina's offensive showcase through the air has their cult all up in arms and the ringleader of that circus has a chapped arse

D-Swine can't wait for Saban to retire so he can go home.

They couldn't put 40k in the seats during Hatfield's last season. I remember how many Gamecocks were up there for that beatdown in 1994.

And given their recent success, they've coopted the illiterate Wal Mart fans who love Clemson but can't find it on a map.

They are a front running fanbase. Period.

If margin of victory does not matter, why not take a knee with 39 seconds left in the game?

There was a Clemson fan who asked why I called them Pickens Tech and said that didn't even make sense since they were nowhere near Pickens. I lmmfao.

Dumbo went for that last TD to take some heat off of the performance of their "elite" defense". Our first year OC threw out some wrinkles that they could not adjust too. Jake Bentley lit their azzes up. They have been Exposed.

Dabs says he only wants to win by 1 point?

His offense looked confused they weren’t told to take a knee with seconds left, up by 14 and SC out of time outs. Dabs was giving the hurry up signal to the offense....he was going to run 2 or 3 plays in those last 30 seconds if that’s what it took to get another TD.

The statement “I only want to win by 1 point” and Dabs actions on the last touchdown do not jibe.

His rant against his fan base yesterday is another example of Dabs not being able to handle criticism.

Several years ago he was getting severely criticized by Clem fans after the 2012 loss to SC and he used an innocuous non-tweet by Spurrier as reason to rant against SC and deflect criticism. A strange, childish rant for sure.

Dabs isn’t motivated by money - it’s one reason he was always reducing his pay to give his coordinators more money - but he is extremely motivated by praise and adulation. It’s my drive by opinion that he craves praise because he never got it from his father as a child (poor father/son relationship).

When the praise is replaced with criticism Dabs goes off the rails.

I like the way you think re Dabo's necessity for praise. I can only HOPE that the roles are reversed next year and Muschamp does what Muschamp doesn't normally do...tells BMac to not only keep the foot on their throat but stomp the shite out of their windpipe and kill the bastards.

I tell you, look at the general attitude of the two fan bases this Monday morning after the Carolina vs Clemson game last Saturday night. If you didn't know the final score of the game, you would think the final outcome was opposite of what really happened.

I mean, we got what we expected out of our defense sadly... watching their vaunted defense get carved up is something I think they were blind sided by for sure.

Over the course of a 12 game schedule, this one game dropped them from #2 to #7 in total defense and #1 to #4 in scoring defense.

Statistically speaking, that's being exposed.

And FWIW, it lifted us from #45 to #33 in total offense and from #38 to #37 in scoring offense.

To be perfectly clear, Dabo was trying to run up the score on South Carolina.

I am not entirely sure why Dabo did this. Like I said, I think Dabo is a good guy. But that was not right. I would like to think he wasn’t trying to embarrass a defense with a bunch of gassed, injured freshman. Instead, I think it is very possible that Dabo himself was embarrassed. Coaches always act like they don’t listen to outside noise and that they don’t know things like the point spread or pregame predictions. But I would not be shocked if Dabo was looking up at that scoreboard, seeing that his vaunted Clemson defense gave up 35 points and 600 yards of offense to a team many predicted would be lucky to score ten points, and thought, “screw this, let’s get another score and win by 21.” I don’t know for sure. That’s my guess. But I think Dabo got caught up in his emotions a little bit. I think he was upset his defense played poorly and in the heat of the moment he decided to run up the score to make it look better.

I know that this is a rivalry, but Dabo displayed poor sportsmanship. I think this stuck in my crawl because it came from a coach and a program and a school that hold themselves to a “higher standard.” I didn’t even go to South Carolina, but listening to Clemson fans continually beatdown the Gamecock fan base for being classless or hicks or rude, is tough to stomach after seeing a Clemson fan flipping Keil Pollard the middle finger as he runs by the student section, or watching a Clemson fan move into the South Carolina section of the stadium, stand next to me, and trash South Carolina players in front of their parents, or witnessing Dabo run up the score, or observing their students rush the field before the game was over.

Imo i wouldn’t hire him.
Think it’s a bad move but that’s just me.
Think he’s like most DCs and just good based on the talent he recruits. I really don’t think he can get that to texas tech

I think clemson plays Bama again and it will be something like 45-38 Bama.
Think in today’s game “defense” is becoming more difficult and these offensive passing attacks that Clemson and Bama have are more difficult to defend.
You also can’t touch the guy without getting flagged
