credit to Donati for making a clean break and doing so within 48 hours of the final game -

Lee was just on Sportstalk with Kornbutt - spent a lot of time talking about NIL $ and the players that were brought in basically spent more time comparing their bag to others on the team - our homegrown boys didn't care too much for it - team was not connected at all past 2 seasons with NIL basically at the core of it all - he said out loud what we could all see -

I cut it off before the interview was over -

Evans was vocal about wanting Monte to get the job - he's someone I'd prefer stick around next season to see how he does with better coaching - Craddock needs to be a priority re-recruit - Bak okay by me too - Matt Williams can chose what pitchers he wants if any to remain - yeah that Matt Williams - it's all trending in favor of Schnall & staff -

Gary Gilmore basically told Schnall to take the Carolina job in a interview. Said with SEC money you couldn't walk away from the opportunity.

quote:

I mean, you also can’t walk away from the finances that an SEC school can provide to you,” Gilmore told Kornblut. “Heck, (in) my generation it was a lot to take those jobs. Now, it’s like holy cow, man. You’re routinely getting $2 million to take a job like that. I don’t know how you walk away from that.”

“You’re not getting that at Coastal Carolina

that's pretty bold outta Gilmore considering his history with opinions of mostly RT - but USC baseball too - he's not wrong -

if Chance MIller ends up in VT - I think that pushes Schnall towards Carolina even more - Joe Moglia is near 80 years old now - not as involved in recent years on their campus - not sure where Coastal would turn for an AD - they wanted Miller to stick - that has to be a concern for Schnall -

I'd be pretty okay if Williams was back handling our pitchers and recruiting SC high schools for USC -

Do we want to do a coaching search thread on here?

I know the top 2 candidates are Schnall and Sabins. I prefer Sabins out of those 2 if I am being honest, but with the success at Troy, does Skyler Meade get a call? I know we all want to move past Tanner associates, but Sabins and Schnall have only done it for 2 years, Skyler has been quite successful at Troy for 5 years.

I wouldn't exactly call this season a success for Meade and No to him as HC.

That's more luck of the draw. He was 31-26 but kudos for making Omaha. There are still other coaches I prefer.

Kevin Schnall vs P4 - 16-10

3-1 vs Clem
2-2 vs WF
1-1 vs NC (both in CH)
1-1 vs NCSU

0-1 vs Alabama (Duvall Jax)
0-1 vs Texas (Houston)
1-0 vs Ole Miss (Houston)
2-0 at Auburn (Supers)
0-2 vs LSU (Omaha champ series)

1-0 vs Arizona (Omaha)
1-0 vs Oregon St (Omaha)
1-0 vs Louisville (Omaha)

2-0 vs Kansas St
1-0 vs Washington
0-1 vs Illinois

Schnall has a better record in Omaha than Scott Forbes (1-2) - who was gifted a 2nd trip to the CWS yesterday in large part to Southern Cal's inability to catch a foul ball final out with the game on the line - that was the LF's ball and 3B screwed it up -

other teams of note - Schnall is 6-2 career v Cliff Godwin & ECU - he went 1-2 at Troy 2025 and did not play them at all this season - he beat The Citadel both games in 2026 -

his WTH? concern is a 1-3 record against Holbrook - but that speaks to more of Coastal's curse against CofC ever since CCU stole the 2010 regional on the out call at 1B to end CoC's season and advance CCU to host Carolina in a Super at Pelicans park -

Done Deal - pending BOT.

Schnall it is! I am fully on board and for once a coaching search seemed like all good candidates that had interest. In the end we get the guy we wanted from the start. Great start so far.

With Schnall it also opens the door to playing coastal again too...which we look so bad for the fact we wont play them because some donors don't want to.

Which has a lot to do with the way they tried to screw us over when we played them in a SR down there one year.

Fine but it was a stupid thing to stop scheduling them over. We won that. The state deserves those matchups to happen. We get the citadel and CofC but neither are anywhere close to Coastal.

It's been a huge missed opportunity and not something worth holding onto for 15+ years

Opportunity for who? For us to lose 4 midweek games to Coastal per year?

Recruits don't care about that crap. CCU tried hard balled us in 2010, and yes, karma got their arse that year. But what net benefit could our program have had for rescheduling them? Whether they were on the schedule or not has literal 0 impact on our program. Neither program's success or failure depends on it.

gonna be interesting to see where Hollins ends up - and why -

Walker Mitchell is fired up to be wearing that Carolina baseball jersey next spring - much like his late father Alan did at USC too -

unpopular opinion - I couldn't be more relieved Forbes is staying where he belongs - out of SC - and away from anything Gamecock - bad fit - they don't come any baby bluer than him - good coach - not for USC -

Matt Williams being back should prove to be a big help - I anticipate in-state recruiting will pick up to a level were accustomed to having -
