Look here now Mr Mod if i can keep up with the scores can you at least pin the thread (As long as Lonnie is ok with another thread being pinned)

I actually thought about doing it, but as superstitious as baseball is, I haven't done it because we keep winning unpinned.

I'm still concerned that Sanders still isn't ready to be the Friday night guy.

Unfortunately it looks like mine and bleeds garnet were right about our concerns. We are also striking out way to much. We are beating the teams we should but this isn't going to cut it starting next weekend.

Throw me into the "we strike out too much" group. Ive been on that for a while.

I don't think we are as bad as we showed last night but yeah...rough night to be a Gamecock

It would be great taking 2 of 3 from LSU but we have to make their pitchers work or otherwise we will get shut down.

The cocks have been fortunate with scheduling so far this year.

the schedule will be very hard the next 3 weeks. this week is just nasty. if sc can go 2-2 ill actually be thrilled.

then we can move on to vandy and fla..

Me knowing bleedsgarnet background I can assure everyone he is well versed in the baseball world. Why he hasn't shared his breakdown of this years team, good and bad, is very concerning. How about the breakdown sir?

Gamecocks got all 5 runs tonight from the 7th inning on - USC's outscored opponents 72-23 from the 7th on this year - more than a few games doing it without batting B9.

always nice to beat NCar on the diamond or gridiron. it's happened a lot over the past 50 years. tonight's win will serve well when top 8/16 seeds are handed out. USC back to hosting at Founders seems likely. Arkansas won the Chapel Hill regional last year - so some other SEC team will probably go there and win it this year.

Jones / Austin threw a combined 22 pitches. both should be full go Thur for LSU. Proctor threw just 8 pitches T7 - gave up a double - and got 3 outs.

It was nice beating the tarholes and beating a Holbrooke (Chad's son Reece plays for UNC & his youngest plays for Vandy).

Ok sosfan,

It's a realistic time to give a decent evaluation of this squad so here goes.

In short, this team is very good. Kingston gets all credit for bringing in Lee and turning this lineup upside down.

The additions of Casas, Petry,French, Brewer and mcgillis are huge.

Sc is finally healthy at the pitching position. And they all can do their jobs.

Sanders is key. He has all the nastiness needed to be great if he can stay ahead in the count. If he had to groove it then he doesn't fare well.

I expect him to join the rotation again. Hall and Mahoney are sec quality starters.

Jones, veach, hicks, Austin and jerzembeck have done well.

This team seems to have a resiliency not seen in a long time.

Petry has been great but I look for lsu to pitch him a steady diet of outer half curves to get him swinging at balls..he is dangerous if he knows a fastball is coming.

Carolina has a brutal back end and this is sec baseball..past teams would wilt but this team won't do that..

This squad will be In a super regional for a best of 3 to go to omaha..

Well..I guess lsu decided to pitch to petry.

Bad decision. Always good to beat the bayou babies.

Go cocks!!

Hate that they gave up the backbreaker in Game 2. Needed to rebound in the canceled Game 3.

No matter. Get better, win anyway, and beat them Purple Pussies in Omaha.

Gamecocks have had success in Nashville against Corbin over the past 6 series - against some of the better VU teams he's had there.

2021 VU 2-1
2018 USC 2-1
2016 VU 2-1
2014 USC 2-1 <- VU won Omaha
2012 USC 2-1
2010 USC 2-1

going into this weekend -

Batting Average - Slugging - On Base % ...USC with a higher average than VU in all three. HR & Runs favor Carolina. Gamecock pitchers have a better ERA - more Ks & less walks - than Corbin's pitching, too.

VU runs on the bases (54/67) like they always do. I think VU could be caught off guard that this Carolina team can run on them with its 35/37 ratio on the base paths.

Hall not playing certainly makes this series quite a bit more difficult to manage. he's been pretty consistent in his lengthy starts and who knows how many arms it will take to cover those innings - or control a lineup the way Hall has done as well.

No doubt, but this is a good team. I think sc wins 2 of 3 vs Vandy and moves to 4th...

They are never out of it.

USC hasn't won a game 2 in league play since before Hall left early (trailing) in Starkville. had a 4-run lead in two of the three game 2 losses - one late/one early. maybe USC can stop the 3-game slide in game 2's today v UF.

Hall's been the steadiest arm in the rotation. he's 8-2 over his last 15 starts going back to his first win as a SP against Missouri 2022. he'd pitched at least 5 innings in 12 of those 15 starts. 7 starts of 7+ innings.

will be surprised if Casas can swing the bat today after tightening up overnight - so who knows what kind of lineup card MK will turn in. I just hope French is hitting 7 or lower and not leadoff.

LSU fans legitimately make this place unfun sometimes.
