Yeah. Left Sunday. I'll be in DC until mid-May.

Here's to the SEC Tournament Championship run needed to get us into the tournament.

Due to weather, game against UNC in Charlotte has been moved to Wednesday at 7pm.

Unfortunately it’s not canceled

Not that it’ll help us get to the post season any but apparently we’ve beaten UNC in baseball, football, women’s basketball, and women’s soccer this year. All in the state of NC.

So we may suck, but at least we’ve got that?

I think it definitely helps. When you look at that time of the year and you look at the bubble, the Series wins will look good, the midweek losses suck but I dont know how much they will be held against us, assuming we can win a few SEC series. It will be the weirdest year for us, considering if we are the bubble it will be a wacky resume vs probably some consistently average resume

What I meant to say is that the wins vs Texas, Vandy, and UNC are nice. But I don't expect to even be on the bubble this year.

yeah thats fair. I just keep not being able to wrap my head around that the fact fans are rightly upset at how the team has performed....despite the quality series wins. You have to be a weird team with some awful performances for that to happen.

it also means if we ever could become more consistent we could be pretty good

dropped a tough one to UGA allowing 2 T9 to lose by 1. Hall has put together 2 good Fridays. he's overcome the big stage early on. game seems to be slowing down for him with traffic on the bases and getting outs after getting behind in the count. any arm out of the pen is a crapshoot. it is what it is.

we all knew when USC hung 15 on the tarholes that we wouldn't score very much tonight. this team's ability to plate runs game to game is erratic at best. to his credit, Belk is giving us a All-SEC Gene Cone-type effort to carry this lineup hitting lead-off...and LH. Belk 2/3 tonight, everyone else 3/27.

maybe the other 8 spots can join Belk in time to not get left out of the SECT in Hoover, because that's starting to look like it might happen.

We should be going for the sweep tomorrow, but luckily we did at the least bounce back today and win. A win tomorrow would be a pretty big deal imo.

it was a good bounce back win. good for Sanders to get to 5-1. 9K 3BB 71 strikes/109 pitches.

11 walks 3 wp & 1 hbp was the good fortune the offense needed. Kingston teams of years past would've struck out 15+ times instead of letting UGA pitchers fail - so Caillet gets credit today for that.

using Becker today clearly changes everything for tomorrow. does it signal a change of having Becker in to close behind both Hall/Sanders going forward - in a Brett Kerry type role to affect more than one game in a series? a lot of that is certainly dependent on Carolina's inconsistent ability to score more than a couple runs per game, just like with Kerry.

I have no illusions this team is gonna transform into anything other than what it already is. hopefully they can somehow get 10 conference wins and then if tough decisions have to be made end of May/June so be it.

Carolina outscored Georgia this weekend 24-23 yet lost the series.

kinda sums up Kingston's program.

->

updated SEC batting avg under Kingston

2022 .214
2021 .246
2020 no SEC / .272 overall
2019 .236
2018 .280

Kingston's team has been outscored 83/59 and outhit 118/81.

Brandt Belk has 19 of USC's 81 hits with a .422 SEC average. only big hoss Sonny Dichiara/AUB has a higher SEC avg at .429

the rest of Kingston's lineups are 62/333 (.186) at the plate in league play.

It's never easy is it

Gamecocks give up 4 in the 9th inning to allow an Ole Miss comeback to tie the game before South Carolina has a sac fly to walk it off in the 9th

Its not, but hey they were ranked so thats a good series win.

beginning of the year when OM was #1. if you said we would take series off OM, UT, and Vandy, youd think we were at worst in a host spot. funny how things work out

USC plays Wed/Fri/Sat/Sun this week and no mid-week game before Alabama comes to Cola on Thurs the following week.

will be interesting to see how MK/Parker handle the staff around keeping Hall/Fri & Sanders/Sat with Becker now used in relief with multiple weekend appearances.

Hunter started Thur/Ole Miss and if they flip him to game 3 Sun/@AUB that leaves the Thur/ALA game in need.

--- SEC Stats ---

Gamecocks raised their SEC BA 5 points to .221 after winning the Ole Miss series, but remain 14th behind Rebels' .241 and everyone else in the league above them.

SEC ERA sits at 6.54 (10th) and fielding 3rd at .983 - which is the best *so far* for a Kingston team.

Brandt Belk still owns the SEC's #2 BA at .396 (Elko/OM #1 .407). Belk is 5th in OnBase%, 14th in Slugging% and has 21 hits in SEC games with the league best at 26 hits. Belk missed game 1 vs Ole Miss, too.

Sightler all of the sudden has the 6th best SEC Slugging% at .744.

--- at Auburn ---

Tigers rank SEC Top 5 in Batting Avg, OnBase %, Hits, RBI, Runs Scored and Doubles.

AU pitching owns the league's worst Opponent Batting Avg at .299 (USC .283) and have given up the most hits in league play at 162. USC (T-8th) has allowed 147 hits.

South Carolina takes the series from Bama, winning Game 2 with a score of 2-1.

Going for a (gasp) sweep tomorrow

Getting that sweep was pretty great. Now we just gotta keep winning. Id like to think 30 wins gets us in.

As of 5/4 Baseball America has us in the Next Four Out, and only 2 of our 5 remaining opponents currently have regional bids (TAMU hosting and UF as a 3 seed).

Barring an appearance in the SECCG, our post-season hopes are likely riding on the TAMU series this weekend.
