So what youre saying is UGA's ranking could be severely overstated? 8 seems pretty high, and I dont ever really remember them being that good in baseball.

With the baseball players the state of Georgia puts out the bulldogs should always be elite.

We need to continue being patient when batting and we have to cut out the walks and errors.

While true, I feel like we say this for every sport.

10-9 win.

14-3

We play this weekend like we did tonight and we will get swept.

Thank goodness most of the pitchers we threw tonight will not throw much this weekend, except out of the bullpen.

Our hitting is pretty solid thus far, although it can be pretty inconsistent: have a couple explosive innings, and then disappear the rest of the way.

NCAA RPI: USC - 48, UGA - 91
Warren Nolan RPI: USC - 47, UGA - 96
Boyd's World RPI: USC - 46, UGA - 92

USC is 14-3, UGA is 14-2. Per Warren Nolan, UGA has played 13 of it's games thus far versus Quadrant 4 opponents. The website has opponents broken down into Quadrants, where Quadrant 1 (Q1) is opponents with 1-50 ranked RPI, Quadrant 2 (Q2) are ranked 51-100, Q3 are 101-150, and Q4 are 151-297.

So UGA hasn't yet faced an opponent this season that is a Q1 opponent, or with an RPI that's in the top 50. We will be their first such opponent. And UGA is 2-1 vs. Q2 opponents, 0-0 vs. Q3 opponents, and 12-1 vs. Q4 opponents - or opponents with 151+ ranked RPIs. They will play against Q4 opponent Georgia State Wednesday, and should come into our series this weekend 15-2.

We are 2-1 vs. Q1 opponents (Clemson), 2-1 vs. Q2 (Liberty), 2-1 vs. Q3, and 8-0 vs. Q4.

UGA hasn't faced much opposition yet this season that's closer to their level of talent, and they'll be facing us in our house. We already have faced some stiff competition in our in-state rivalry, so hopefully we'll be ready for the challenge.

This of course can change at the drop of a feather at any time being baseball, and we could get routed, but hopefully not. We routed the Citadel last week 9-0 and were well on our way last night up 9-1, then wound up fighting for our lives to keep from losing the game. Gardner-Webb routed us 10-2, and hasn't won since, getting swept last weekend to Wofford and losing to UNC - who just got swept by Clemson - 18-8 or something like that Tuesday Night.

But that's baseball - hopefully we're on the smiling end of that deal after this coming weekend....

This is a great preview for the weekend series, thanks! enjoyed reading. Basically it appears UGA has an inflated ranked that they havent proved yet, but it just so happens they could be that good, they just havent had to prove it yet.

We will find out this weekend I suppose.

Georgia has some very good talent. Every team is still trying to find the right pieces.
Lets just hope we cut down on our mistakes.
This series could go sweep from either team but I think Carolina wins the series 2-1.

Nice write up Conway. Very much appreciated.

According to your write up does this mean we are a Q1 game for Georgia but they are only a Q2 game for us? I would have thought they would be a Q1 due to their top 25 ranking but I guess this is based on rpi ranking?

That's correct - they are outside of the top 50 while we are just inside of it. So we'll be their first Q1 opponent they face this season, and they will be our 2nd Q2 opponent, after Liberty....who just crushed Virginia 14-5 Wednesday night...
