Our pitching has been abysmal. It’s disgusting.

Losing 2-10. We look horrible. So many wild pitches

Didn't come ready to play today. The pitching needs to introduce themselves to the strike zone...

what a bottom of the 9th. Berryhill and Olson smacked that baseball like they were mad at it. they left no doubt they weren't gonna let the game go beyond their 2 at-bats. back-to-back solo bombs - 3 pitches is all it took.

the VAL pitcher stomped off the mound towards his dugout before Olson rounded 2B on the GW HR.

A big sigh of relief at winning the series. But also a bit of frustration: we got plastered by Gardner-Webb before Gm #1 of this series, and yes Gardner-Webb is a decent team around Liberty's level.

But this Valpo team came in with a .200-hitting team and a .300 slugging %, and a 7.00+ ERA pitching staff. And they hadn't played anyone of note yet. Very surprised that it took the bottom 9th heroics to pull the game out, but as they say in baseball, a win is a win.

Morgan is a definite starting pitcher stud for us, the best arm we got right now. We should keep him in the Saturday slot as an anchor for the weekend series, and have Shook and Sweatt handle the other starts, and see how we do with that.....

I wonder if beating clempson caused us to overlook the teams this past week?

My biggest concern is starting pitchers on this years team, something I'm not used to seeing.

Sweep 12-6.

This team finds ways to win now on to the bulldogs. Next 4 games are against bulldogs.

Record 13-3

P.S. clempson swept #3 ranked unc this weekend. Should help our RPI.

Kinda wish we had more week to work out the kinks and solidify our starting pitchers.

Georgia is a top 25 team but then again what sec team isn't?

It's like 10 straight weeks of super regionals. You could make an argument for the sec tourny being more difficult than the cws.

I mean, Tanner won 1 SECT and went to 4 CWS finals and 2 titles.

Granted, he didn’t give a shite about the SECT.

Completes the sweep with a 12-6 Game #3 win, to improve to 13-3 on the season.

I was kinda thinking we'd win all 3 games like this, except for giving up as many as 6 runs per gm to Valpo. They are that bad a team, but perhaps they are improving, and Saturday was just one of those days in baseball....

Last season under Kingston in his initial season as head coach, USC went:

37-26 overall
17-13 in SEC play
1-2 in the SECT
4-2 in the Regionals & Supers

That means we went 15-9 in non-conference, regular-season games. We're now currently 13-3, so we're 2 games shy of tying last season's wins mark. We play at the Citadel this coming Tuesday, then start SEC play vs. UGA. Then we have 8 more OOC mid-week games scheduled, with the top of those against NC St. and UNC in Charlotte.

I don't know if we'll try to re-schedule the cancelled game with Presbyterian, or try to work in a game with another opponent to get our full 56 games. Both teams have the mid-week between the April 26-28 and May 3-5 weekends open, so perhaps we could squeeze in the game then. We usually try not to schedule two mid-week games a week once the SEC slate starts up, and all other mid-weeks have a OOC game already scheduled.

But either way, we'd have to now go 3-6 with our remaining 9 OOC games, to end up with 9 OOC losses like we did last season, and I doubt seriously we'll do that.

What I am saying with all of this is, it looks like we're improving on our season results of last season, at least...

We are definitely improved from last year in hitting the ball.

I know Saturday was a bit of a mess, but the two HR's to end the game were electric. What an ending.

Im ready for SEC play now. I think last year we improved alot during the year, and if that trend continues we will be a force come the NCAAT.

had a nightmare 6th inning of game 2 of DH in Statesboro and lost to GSU.

Game 1

STATESBORO, Ga.- In game one of a Saturday doubleheader, No. 13 Georgia defeated Georgia Southern 4-2 to clinch a road series in front of 2,916 fans at J.I. Clements Stadium.

Game 2

STATESBORO, Ga.-Georgia Southern avoided being swept by No. 13 Georgia Saturday when it scored seven runs on no hits in the sixth inning to help it post a 10-7 victory at J.I. Clements Stadium.

The Eagles (4-6) batted around in the sixth thanks to four walks, three hit batters, one error that allowed three runs to score plus a couple of wild pitches that combined to doom Georgia. The Bulldogs used three pitchers in the inning and six total in the contest. Six Eagle hitters got hit by a pitch Saturday including two with the bases loaded and two runs scored on bases-loaded walks in the sixth.

7 runs - 0 hits ...that's got to be some kind of record for futility.

dwags other loss on season was a 0-1 shutout in Athens to the baseball juggernaut/powerhouse Long Island U - Brooklyn.

7 of the 10 SEC weekends are against teams currently ranked - 3 teams in the top 7. crazy

#11 Georgia
#21 at Tennessee
#17 Auburn
UR at Alabama
#7 at Florida
#22 Texas AM
UR at Missouri
#2 Vanderbilt
UR Kentucky
#5 at Mississippi State

Alabama is currently unranked but tied with #5 Miss State & #21 Tennessee for the most wins in the SEC at 15.
