are likely to try to come after some of our staff. I think Monken's on both HC lists. Maybe McGee/Schumann as assistants.
Hate to lose any of them.

Weren't they talking Jeff Monken (Todd's brother) for GT?

I would think they'd go after regional ties. 'cruiting and all.

Monken would hurt. We need to do everything possible to keep him happy.

-tech is talking about jeff monken not todd
-I'm not sure why todd would leave for AU. He makes $2M a year now with a lot less stress than a HC of a major program would have. Not to mention AU is in shambles and he'd be inheriting a mess. If he just has the itch to be a HC again and really wants another crack at it I'm certain there are other schoosl out there somewhere taht woul db ea better choice
I do agree though we should pay him almsot anythign he wants. I hate thinking about not having him as our OC anymore and gettin stuck with another coley or chaney but such is life when you're elite

Dell and Schumann are both likely HC candidates themselves.

No way GT goes back to triple option. I predict they are going to make a bigger hire than anybody is thinking.

Not sure about that. In the new NIL/ Portal world tech was a tough job that just became near impossible. Every diamond they landed are now gone. Don’t see that changing

I don't see Monken at Auburn but I may be wrong. He just doesn't seem to have the personality they look for. I would think they may try to go after Hugh Freeze or some other proven HC.

I think the Auburn president and their new AD will indeed go after a known name with HC experience. They are a ship without a rudder. They should find an experienced HC near retirement and ask him to give them 5-6 years to build a program from the ground up. Offer him a nice retirement package and good money for top assistants to revive the program.

I’m pretty confident that they won’t go back to triple option and that they will at least make attempts at much bigger names than projected.

I've long thought that if they wanted to succeed in football (that's a whole nother question on if their AD actually wants that or not) they needed to ditch the option since it has such a low ceiling.
But someone made a great point somewhere else the other day, that with ever expanding playoffs going to 12 (and probably higher one day once more dollar signs are added), it kinda neutralizes that ceiling. It'll be interestiong to see what direction they go in, this could be a make or break for the history of their program. If they hire anohter loser like geoff that program may never recover again.

Only thing worse than everyone wanting your coaches is no one wanting them

They didn't bat an eyelash at hiring Bruce Pearl. Freeze or Petrino would be the logical next step towards permanent dysfunction.
