In Wednesday's presser, Pitt was asked about when he first got into contact with Georgia, and apparently he had revealed before that Kirby recruited him after the Hogs' 14-13 loss to Alabama in 2014.

The Kirby quote was something like "If I get a big job, you're coming with me"

Pittman said he laughed and never wrote letters (probably a nice little shot at Bert there), and that he never campaigned for other jobs, but when the time to leave was right, he took it and then told his wife they were going to Athens.

Never knew Kirby had Pittman in mind that early. Also shows just how damn cutthroat the SEC is.

When did Saban offer Pittman?

Edit: apparently it was 2013, just weeks after he'd accepted the Arkansas job.

Saban is excellent at spotting talent, coaching or players.

Considering he turned down Bama to stay at Arkansas how bad must things have gotten for him to leave under Bert?

I heard he was upset with Bert that some of his offensive linemen tried to knock on his door but refused to open the door. This was after an argument between the two.

Bert tried to put the blame on Sam and said that he tried to keep him here. I don't know if it had to do with the recruiting visit with an offensive lineman that Bert skipped out on to go to Vegas. But apparently Sam was upset as he explained to this recruit as to why Bert didn't show up and that recruit ended up as a four year starter at an SEC school.

I believe Sam had issues with recruiting as Bert didn't show up at these recruiting visits which could have hurt Sam's reputation. Bert is an obnoxious slob who didn't invest his time in the program unless it was Jim Beam. Sam had enough of his immature bullshite and left.

CBB took the majority of the Oline with him to beg Sam to stay. It happened, but definitely didnt work

That's like after you decide you're splitting up your marriage, your wife grabbing the kids bringing them over and asking you why you don't love the kids enough to stay together ...

I thought it was telling when sam listed all the coaches he had worked under and how much he learned but never once mentioned bielema.

Even mentioned previous Arkansas coaches. Still no Bert reference (granted, not like he’s held in the same esteem as a Holtz or Hatfield).

It may sound like 20/20 hindsight, but I always had a bad taste in my mouth for how Bert publicly handled Pittman leaving after the 2015 season. Regardless of how it goes down, you don’t call out a former assistant as he’s walking out the door, especially one as well regarded in coaching circles as Pittman was/is. Just poor taste and potentially turns off other potential assistant coach candidates.

Pretty telling that Bert tried to publicly shame Pittman by acting like he betrayed his players, yet those same former players were the driving force behind Pittman’s candidacy and campaign for our HC job.

It’d be like a colleague telling everyone you’re a shitty boss only to have your own employees lobby for you to get a promotion.

Bert had to have known he was done when Pittman walked out on him. The fact that he hired Kurt fricking Anderson as Sam's replacement is all you need to know about his cognitive state at that time.

I remember very specifically when I woke up and seen that pittman was leaving the hogs that I had this horrible feeling of despair that all was lost. then bert aired out the dirty laundry publicly, and at the time I think because of the media spin bullshite here that I kinda believed Bert's side of the story, until the very next year and I seem how awful our O line was then I knew pittman was the man, but I also thought pittman clearly didn't recruit enough guys to give us any depth. then as time went, and I heard how things really went down I realized BERT compromised our Depth with his BS. we were gonna get that #1 rounder juco that went to Utah, and the other SEC starter was the kid who went to LSU.
