Was bringing in Lane Kiffin the "Wishbone" moment of the Saban Era?

Many fans well-versed in the history of Alabama Football know that Alabama had entered a slump by the late-60s and that Bear Bryant's switch to the wishbone offense in 1971 propelled the Crimson Tide to a new level of dominance not seen before in the history of the Southeastern Conference. Over 40 years later, Saban could see the changing landscape of college football offenses and decided to adapt before he got left behind. While he never hit the mediocre levels of 1968-1970, one can argue that he would have been relegated to 9-10 wins a season if he kept the same offense he had been running from 2008-2013. I feel like the hiring of Lane Kiffin changed everything and helped propel us to a level of dominance that far surpasses the dominance we showed in the 70s.

I love how he warned everybody. “Is this what you want football to be?”

Thing is Alabama still plays good defense. Better than most. They slip up from time to time and will have that game where they give up 35-40 points, but for the most part they still hold opponents to 17 or less. Couple that with this soul crushing offense they now play..... College football is getting what they asked for

I will say, I'm glad|evolved away from all the bubble screens. The occasional one is okay. But I've been glad to see the running backs more involved.

I think it’s similar to Bryant and the Wishbone but not as significant in terms of the degree of philosophical change and the impact on success.
Having said that, I contend that the 1970s was the most unique and memorable decade in CFB history due to integration and the prime of the Wishbone offense.

Alabama has been tortured by dual threat QBs over the years. What does Saban do in response ? Sign players like Bryce Young, Jalen Milroe and Ty Simpson. Simpson has a Johnny Manziel vibe to his game. What goes around comes around.

2016 seemed to be the only year we ran that so much and it was Kiffin working with what he had, considering Jalen struggled in the intermediate and long pass. We had to get the ball in Ridley and Stewart's hand somehow.

Recruiting and developing elite QBs was the wishbone moment of the Saban era.
