We all can name some. Would the same fate happen to Tua or Burrow in the NFL?

Will the best QB in the SEC (Mond) even get a draft grade?

You do realize that a lot of big name QBs in the NFL aren’t busts as well right

In many cases the best NFL QBs play for teams that don't out Athlete the opponents in every game

Take last year, Haskins vs Jones --when Haskins played for OSU all he had to do was wait behind an OL that was better than the opposition, then throw the ball up to a sub 4.4 guy going up against a slow footed Big10 DB where his WR had a huge advantage and he ended up throwing into huge "windows", he had like 50+ TD passes, but I knew he was fool's gold at the NFL level

Compare that to the guy from Dook, his teams never had more talent than the opposition, his WRs were rarely dominant vs the DBs they went against and his OL was mediocre so he was forced to make quick decisions and throw into tighter windows during his college career

Big name QBs in college usually have the luxury of a dominant Roster behind them and when they get to the NFL the Rosters are very even due to the Salary Cap, you see in CFB Bama has no salary cap for their players as evidenced by their Player's parking lot

You can't hide skill gaps behind a scheme in the NFL ... end of story.

I feel like most QBs are busts regardless whether they had a "big name" in college or not.

Of the 32 starting QBs in any given year, only about half of them are any good at that level.

1. It's not just QB's.. a lot of players don't pan out at the next level

2. College QB's can excel with vastly different skill sets than NFL.

3. NFL offenses and defenses are more complex & have fewer weaknesses to exploit.

4. NFL QB's most often can't choose the team/scheme they sign up for.

5. Lack of parity in college diminishes the value of "surrounding cast"

better question is who are some elite quarterbacks that never got the chance to prove how great they were because they played in conservative college offenses

Don't you miss it
Don't you miss it
Some of you just about missed it

Burrow May never lose another game throughout the rest of his career. That’s how good he is.

The NFL requires more precision and refinement of specific skills than college. Things that you may rely on and do very well become obsolete when playing against athletes at the highest level, and hidden weaknesses become apparent when skill level, precision and schemes are all refined .

For QBs quick decision making, quick releases, and precision are premium skills in the NFL. In college a great athlete or a guy with a big, accurate arm will do just fine as long as he has the athletes around to cover up weaknesses. The other big traits are consistency and calm under pressure. You can name a slew of successful college QBs who don't have all of these traits, but I can't name one successful NFL QB who misses more than one.

I think Joe Burrow plays like an NFL QB. He has all of those traits.

Haskins has the size and arm strength, but he doesn’t quite have the foot movement to get out of the pocket quickly. I wouldn’t call him fool’s gold but I also think another year at OSU would have done him well. But he got paid so there’s that
