To put that into perspective the closest SEC team is Florida with 150 points and Auburn in third with 157 points.

The only team doing better the us is Ohio State. Shout out to our defense for being so goddamn good this year.

This is just surreal to look at.

Grantham's defense might be the toughest we face all year.

Auburn’s will be the toughest. Their front 7 is stacked when healthy. Auburn’s schedule includes 5 of the top 11 teams ranked right now

D is good but we have also played some horrible offenses. Not knocking performance just how odd it is that we have/will play only 1 top 25 offense. Creates a concern when the likely playoff teams are ranked 1/3/5/6 on offense.

ND-25th

AU-33rd
FL-42nd
A&M-44th
Mizz-79th

I see your point. Most of the teams we have played have terrible O’s but we shut down the top three that we played.

So have most, if not all, of the other teams.

While I understand your point, the fact ASU is 30th in team offense should immediately tell you it's a worthless statistic. Would they still be top 30 if they were competing against SEC teams every week? What about even an ACC schedule?

I mean I'd we're being honest, Vandy would be a top 30 offense if they played in the Sun Belt. FOH with those lazy statistics.

It isn’t an all telling stat but when combined with the fact we also have faced very few elite qbs or running backs, I believe some concern should be had. Again, our D and fundamentals have been solid. We have done what we should against those teams.

Hopefully, we do work Sat and get to find out in ATL.

Looking at us and LSU, let's be honest. There's not a ton of difference between 4.32 yards per play and 5.01. And they've definitely faced a better offense than anything we've seen.

These stats just don't mean a lot. We'll know who we are soon enough, though.

I would say that 15% more is a lot. From an LSU standpoint, Bama made 3-4 major mistakes all in the first half or that game would have a very different narrative. With an offense that solid, you ca't give them extra chances.

First things first, I do hope Cager is ready for AU and we show up relentless on D.

Not you per se, but why do stats only mean little when they don't back up someone's narrative? Another poster was saying the offensive stats meant very little and Mizzou was going to shut us down.

I get what you're saying. I'm just pointing out that the per play production isn't really a huge difference between the two teams I mentioned (and one of them....not us....has wrapped up a game with a high-powered offense). Unfortunately, it's hard for us to judge at this point. Hell, even Mizzou didn't have their starter in at QB. Can't say for sure anything changes if they do, but can't guarantee it doesn't, either. Bryant is the starter for a reason.

And I don't know about the offensive stats you mentioned or what was stated. I would not have expected them to shut us down, though. But what points we put up were damn near agonizing to sit through. Heck, our first TD came as a result of that series being extended by a spectacular pass that could very easily have fallen incomplete and resulted in us punting from well into our own territory. We've seen so few of those passes connect this year that it can't be assumed we can do it anytime we need it.
