For Virginia, I think folks in NOVA think the rest of the state is hicks, but really not the case. The way I kinda see Virginia is the folks that live along the interstates (64, 66, 95, 81) are pretty normal, but you find the hicks when you get away from the interstates a bit.

Especially on the coast, with all the military folks.

You get a good mix of people.

Nah.

It was a pretty clear reference to "Florida Man", the undisputed champ of crazy shite.

For Kentucky, you forgot bourbon. My God, they love their bourbon.

Oh, and for Alabama, please add white sandy beaches, offshore fishing, and elite college football programs.

Northern Virginia, for all intents and purposes, is Southern DC. DC itself is not a big city, but when you add in all the feeder communities it is way up there. It is a nice, if expensive, place to live though. Very nice if you like visiting museums.

The backwoods of Virginia are country AF, not that there is anything wrong with that. There are a ton of military bases in the state so if you are retired military its a great place to live. The climate isn't quite as extreme in the summer as Florida.

*shrug* The U.S. census does. But I guess that really doesn't mean anything, because it also groups Maryland and Delaware in the "South" region.

Given the four major U.S. regions (NE, South, MW and West), WV belongs in the South. It certainly isn't northeastern, culturally speaking, even if it's up there geographically.
