Great series win by the dogs. LSU is not an easy win.

Why all the we need to fire our baseball coach???
UGA is ranked 5th in the nation and just won the LSU series???

Serious question not trying to be patronizing
Am I missing something ?

It's a self depricating joke that you'll mainly just find on this board and not really IRL. Stricklin has been arse his entire career here until last year, we decided not to mess with the mojo and just continue calling for his head regardless.

It’s our answer to having a coach who probably could have been canned after his fourth year with a losing record pull everything together in year 5 to Lind a National seed.

It’s part skepticism and part tongue in cheek reaction to a guy basically doing what was highly improbable

Because he’s a total a-hole. I know from personally dealings with him. He is a snake on the recruiting side, and not in a good way. Over the last year, he has pissed off a lot of high school coaches and travel ball coaches. His time will be up very soon.

Im honestly not convinced he is a good coach. I just think he's recruited well the past couple years and brought in some good assistants.

I still cant forgive him for basically not trying in the SEC Tournament last year, so the team went 0-2, and rode that bad momentum into a NCAA Regionals loss to Duke of all teams.

I think he’s good not great. Hard to look at the development of guys like Talley and McGovern over 4 years and not see something to the coaching aspect. Bringing on good assistants, too, is a part of his job and he has been doing well in that respect.

As for him being a-hole, he absolutely is but I fail to see that as some major flaw. Most baseball coaches I’ve known over the years are total assholes but that doesn’t mean they’re bad coaches. In fact, some of the biggest jerks made some of the best coaches because they weren’t worried about hurting feelings so much as keeping players honest and accountable for their individual development and commitment to the guys around them. Travel ball coaches don’t have to like him but the results speak for themselves; he’s winning and guys are developing into better players.

Fire Stricklin.

When he recruits someone very close to you for three years, tells them they have a full ride to UGA for three years, then 2 days before recruit can officially sign with UGA, Stricklin calls said recruit on a Sunday morning and tells the same recruit that he’s been having a man crush on since the kid was a sophomore, hey we found someone else we like better, you can be a walk on. This kid was highly recruited by several other SEC schools. By the time Stricklin told him that they were not going to stand by what they promised, all the other teams that were interested had already filled their rosters. Anyway, my personal interactions with the guy are not good. I graduated from Georgia and pull for the players, but the day Stricklin is gone, I will be celebrating

Sounds like college recruiting. Sucks to have it happen to someone you know but that exact scenario literally happens at every school in every sport. It doesnt make it right but it’s the nature of the beast; you can’t take everyone and you can’t make every person you recruit happy. At the end of the day, coaches have to make the best decision for the program even if it means screwing someone over. Kirby Smart and Nick Saban are prime examples in football.

Maybe so, but Stricklin seemingly has gone out of his way to antagonize and dismiss the real influencers of players at the HS level here in Georgia. He is not welcome anywhere near the East Cobb program and several of the other major travel ball programs.

I don't see Kirby handling the same situation the same way Stricklin does.

He’s finding ways to win with guys from south ga (Talley, McGovern, Hancock, Jernigan, Rogers, Locey), north ga (Wilcox, Maxwell, Bradley), and the 85 corridor (Elliott, Shepherd, Tate twins, CJ smith, Curry, King).

If it hurts our recruiting ranking because east Cobb doesn’t like him then so be it, as long as he develops the guys he gets and wins which he has done the past 2 years

I agree that it’s the nature of the beast, but when the kid is part of your family, it does hit real close to home. When you go to events with the coach and he blows sunshine up a 17 year old kid, only to drop him at the last minute. He was only 2 out of the 7 kids they recruited for 2019 that they offered a full scholarship to. The. To tell him when it was pretty much too late to sign anywhere else but a Juco. I know Kirby does it, but maybe not in such a shitty way. We may have a couple of good years in baseball, but once he starts burning bridges like he has, it’s gonna decline quickly.

Let's just call it like it is, if he wasn't winning everyone would still hate him. He has turned it around it seems so now he gets more leeway.

Hell the one poster from SW ga that knew players and said they were planning a munity doesn't even post anymore.

If he starts to lose ppl will call him a irredeemable jackass and want him fired again.

Yes, because that's the Georgia fans answer to everything. That is unless Smart wins a national title or two.
