Patterson and Jacob Eason are two highly rated QB's recently. Top two fo their class. Do you want to use their freshman numbers?
Eason had a bad supporting cast, and he lacked mobility. He was the focal point of our o.
Patterson was going for a redshirt and was suddenly thrown into the fire late in the season. He was the focal point of their o.
Neither of them had a great situation like Fromm did last year and like fields would have had this year. Fromm was able to be a game manager working off a strong run game.

Fromm doesn’t have anyone to catch the high throws like he did with Wims.
Fromm has regressed in accuracy on his back shoulder passes.
Fromm is overthrowing streaking open receivers at about the same rate as last year.
The first 2 were what he did well last year. The first is non existent right now because he doesn’t have a Wims type. The second is all him. He has lost a lot of accuracy on the back shoulder pass for whatever reason. In between he is throwing crossing patterns and check downs at receivers feet or behind them a bit. And then sometimes he makes some solid throws. He is just very inconsistent right now. Sophomore slump maybe.
We will learn a lot more on Saturday.

One general question would by why Matt Landers or DRob haven't stepped up as those Wims-type receivers.

How was the cast different from what Fromm had last year? We returned almost the entire Oline, the key pieces at WR.

You mean similarly to what you want to do with Fields?
Either way it doesn't change how he played. And, he didn't play that well his sophomore season, either. He did okay, but Ole Miss fans were ready for Ta'amu, and Ta'amu took over iirc.
quote:Yet you somehow think this is a great situation? We lost a NFL OT, starting RG is injured and we have a new RT. As much as I like our RBs, they are not as good as Chubb and Michel.

Robertson is 6' tall, so he won't. He is not a tall, big bodied WR. I actually thought Holloman was going to somewhat fill in there, and he has to an extent. Just not quite enough. He is young and learning.

Insert Fields and this gets real funny

It was very different. Not one 2016 positional group was close to as good as the 2017 or 2018 ones. The 2018 group is much better than you think. Doesn’t have to be as good
As 2017 to be a great situation.

No. What I am talking about with fields is similar to Fromm 2017. Start all year.

The players were essentially the same, were they not?
There were a lot of factors that made those positional groups better. Experience. Coaches. The QB being able to hit open receivers instead of overthrowing them. A lot of the problems Eason had were of his own making.
Of course, if you want to make the excuse that Eason should get a pass, then you should be giving Fromm a pass as well this year. You can't have it both ways. Fromm is playing with a group of inexperienced players in different positions. he lost 6 players that are on NFL rosters this year, including 2 first rounders, and one early second.

Essentially the same?
OL: We replaced 3 senior OL with better OL.
WR: Our best wr went from a 5’7 punt returner to a 6’4 jump baller. Hardman was on defense. Chigbu and Stanley were dropping passes all over.
RB: Nick Chubb was only a year removed from his injury. Swift was in high school.
Strategy: It involved much more passing. 53 attempts vs mizzou?

Amazing that they played for a National Championship the very next year with Fromm as the QB.
And some of those players you mentioned were on the roster in 2016.
As for the roster was better in 2017? It's better this year overall.
So, all of a sudden you are an Eason lover?

The point is the situation that Eason played with wasn’t close to as good as the situations of 2017 or 2018. Saying so doesn’t make me an eason lover.

Okay. Honest question. Do you honestly believe that Eason would have taken us to the NC game last year?
Don't give us a bunch of runaround double speak. Don't get ambiguous or vague. Simple yes or no. Would Eason have taken us to the NC game last year?
Posted on 10/25/18 at 4:20 pm to DawgsLife
It all depended on our strategy choice. Would we have gone with the same conservative run first approach or used the whole playbook just because we didn’t have a freshman qb?

It’s it’s 14-3 early, LSU would have struggled to follow through with their run first game plan on offense, and the run would have opened up more for uga, giving us better ball control in 2 ways.
I am nto discussing it in this thread. If you want to post about the LSU game here then go ahead, but I am not going to answer your posts about the LSU game in this thread.

You guys still going on about this? I’m as argumentative as anyone but this horse is dead. We will see what happens tomorrow.

Because the guy acts like it wasn’t a big deal every time he talks about the game.
