I see alot of people defending Gus and say he is learning on the job. If that is the case why don't we go after a young guy with some fire in his belly to learn on the job like Neal Brown at Troy?

dude, he lost one game and is coming off of a contract extension. unless the wheels come completely off on the magnitude of 2012, we ain't hiring a new coach any time soon

I haven't seen anyone say he's learning. He's just Gus doing Gus things.

He's not learning on the job...it's just a lot harder to win at this level than most fans will admit. There is no part of that loss yesterday that was on Gus. Other than not recruiting at a level like bama and beating everyone on talent.
Players have to make plays. We didn't...they did. FYI LSU has more talent on the field than Auburn based on recruiting rankings.

I agree with you. They should have sent him packing last year.

I didn't say anything about firing him. I'm just asking a question because it seems to be working out pretty well for Oklahoma with a young coach.

Where you even at that game yesterday? Actually it is his fault as the coach because he is letting it happen. Start benching some people until you find someone who wants to give it their all on every play. That offense was pitiful yesterday.

There isn’t much more learning I think is going to happen for the guy, his flaws are his flaws

Are you suggesting 2 head coaches? If we "go after a young guy", wouldn't that mean we would have to let Gustav go?

I recognize ultimately it's his fault because it's his program. Ultimately he'll be held accountable, but against LSU you can't credibly define any coaching decision that changed the game.
The only real issue Saturday was our QB, who has a ton of pressure, under performed. He was given chances and he didn't take advantage and a couple of times actually hindered our ability to win.
The D, playing with an inexperienced secondary managed to hold LSU to 22 minus 7 thanks to the 1st INT. A great D would have managed a FG in that position, so you can complain about that reality. At the end of the day when our O players were put in a position to make plays, they failed. It happens! They feel worse than we do.
