"That's a young team that's going to be really good," said Wright, Villanova's coach. "I would not like to see them in next year's Tournament. Avery did a great job getting a bunch of young guys here."

The future looks bright.

Regardless of the truth of that statement or not, Jay Wright is awesome

Jay is elite. I saw a little of the Michigan State vs Bucknell and the Bucknell was one well coached team with excellent players. MSU played very well and that was required or they were going home as well.

Meh. Why would he not compliment his opponent?

Hopefully he's speaking the truth, though.

I remember there were rumblings around 2012-13'ish about Villanova fans wanting Jay Wright to be fired. Crazy to think about. I remember thinking at the time if Grant doesn't pan out, throw the check book at Wright if he gets fired. The guy is one heck of a coach.

Hopefully Avery can make this team more consistent next season. I don't want another season like this past season where we're constantly up and down.

This was our first season with a tournament win since '06, so I'd like the past season over what happened the other 11 past seasons.

Consistency will be key though because without Collin our ceiling will be lower, but hopefully with more experience, the floor will be much higher.

That is correct. His first three years at Vova they went 19-13, 15-16, and 18-17 with no NCAA tourney appearances.

Good thing they didn’t fire him after year three, because in year four they went to the sweet 16 and haven’t looked back.

Did you expect him to say that we suck and our best offensive threat won't be back next year?

Screw em. Getting to the tournament was what we wanted preseason. And winning a game against a good team was a bonus. Drawing the 8-9 seed is always rough. The highs were high, and the lows were very low. But with youth, it's expected. Avery isn't perfect, but he has Bama headed in the right direction. So I'm satisfied.

^This.

If you'd told any Bama fan before the season that we'd beat Oklahoma, make it to Saturday in the SEC tourney, and win a game in the NCAAs they'd have taken it sight unseen.

Expectations were that we would be a ranked team. Not sure I would have just signed off on anything like that when it was already expected before the season started. Of course nobody expecting our 5 star SG to play like a 2 star but still.

I'd have taken 20 wins, sec semifinals, and 1 win in tournament. Never easy to judge how a group of freshmen and sophomores will play. I think we ll see more consistency in the future, the talent is there.

that is why its a good policy not to hold expectations for a bunch of unknowns.
